Has anyone finished testing the 30x12 and 32x10 PT props on a DA150 or 3W? I just broke my 2 flights old Mejlik cuz a gust of wind picked up the tail of my Ultimate as i was taxiing.... [:@] i was thinking of a Mej 30x12, but noticed PT's are a bit cheaper, lighter and possibly just as good...

I've run the PT 32x10 on my Carden 260 w/ a DA150/cans and flys very nice. It has a quick spool-up, but the
biggest drawback is it is LOUD ( Menz loud). I prefer for my style the Mejlik 32x10 or 30x10. The Mejlik
30x12 was ok. I live in Pensacola and have the PT 32x10 and Mej 30x12, if you would like to try them

Guys, be careful with these props and inspect them regularly. There have been a handful of them that have started to delaminate/come apart. There is a thread about it on Flying Giants and I personnally witnessed it this weekend on a 32x10 PT. On the one I saw, both trailing edges were split wide open

I have a Mejzlik 26x10 with 230+ flights on it and the tips are fraying as well.
I usually wick think CA in the tips.
I assume it is from the tips ripping from time to time.

chris in pensacola was kind enough to let me use his PT 32x10. 6k rpms, and felt and sounded about the same as the mejlik. i just ordered a 32x10 and 30x12. i will inspect them upon arrival. also going to try the mejlik 30x12 for a flight to see how it works...

Ron,
If you're in the market for a Mejzlik30x12, drilled and balanced, but otherwise like new, shoot me a pm or email.

Well you got alot more than the 20 or so flights I got on my 32 x 10 before both trailing edges completly delaminated. From tip to hub. You cannot tell there is a problem unless you twist the tip a little and you see the back of the prop open up. I called troybuilt today and they said it is a problem on some of the 32x10 props. Bill said to send it in and he will replace it. The batch they have in now have more glue in the trailing edges than the ones with the problem. We'll see. I love the prop but I am not about to start replacing a $105.00 prop every 20 flights.

I have a PT 32x10 that I bought from TBM back in September '06. I've put 50-60 flights on it with no issues.

Dick,
You have thoroughly wrung out the super 80 now, I have seen several posts, and you have run several props/pipes. I have an NX 26x10 wood right now, and the engine is 4 hours old, running good, good power, but still new. I want to buy a backup prop, or main prop as it were. I am not hard over on CF versus Wood, and the plane is an all around on stock muffler, and wont have pipes. It accelerates pretty good on the nx, but I am open minded. personnaly I prefer planes that accelerate nicely, not speedy, subject is on a H9 suky at 24 pounds. I wont be competing this plane. Its my learning plane.

Recommendations?

goose, we have run the pt 26x10 and nx 26x10 on the super 80. Both good props but the Vess 26A beats them both hands down. I havent found a better prop for any of the 80cc engines than the Vess 26A. Give one a shot and some feedbacka after you run one. You can get them from DA. Also, if anyone has a 30x12 they want to part with, shoot me a pm as TBM is out of stock.

I might be movin to Weatherford, (just west of Ft Worth), are you in temple? Where is the best gasser flyin?

thanks on the vess 26a. You are not the first one to say that, I had pretty well thought Id be trying it next. My buddy has an old 3w 80 twin with alot of torque, and we will both be trying them before Joe Nall.

goose, I will be here in Temple for about 2 more weeks, then moving to Shreveport LA. I think there are several fields in the Ft. Worth area with giant scale flyers. I think Ft. Worth Thunderbirds is a big club.

flyinrazrback
Is Vess 26A better IMAC(downline, noise, ??...) prop than Mejzlick or PT 26x10 or the Vess pro are only better to pull out from hover/3D?

Scoub, I found that I liked the 26A better for imac type flying as well. It seems up, down, straight and level, the plane flys at the same speed which I like for that kind of flying. Good downlines, etc. Its no more noisy than a PT 26x10 or the mejzlik. Its worth a try, I really like the 26A. I tested the 26A for Vess for some time before they came out and I told him not to change anything on the 26A, it was that good IMO. The 26B is also a good prop, but it flys more like a 26x12 IMO.

Ok i'll give a try to Vess 26A. Personnally, i prefer the Biela 26x10 for IMAC and the Mejzlick for 3D.

I crashed my Yak on the first flight with the Vess 26A after interference on the ailerons. So, i can no talk much about that prop but i tacked 6400 RPM on the super ZDZ80 and BMB canister. The speed was a bit too slow for my taste and i prefer the Biela 26x10.

That would be a good prop for break in. I have used the pt 28x10 on 100cc engines with great results. It is comparable to the mejzlik 28x10. The pt is a lighter prop and will spool up quicker.
