CAPs' are back!!!!????
Looks like CAP's are making some sort of comeback.
WildHare has a nice CAP 232 that comes in 2 sizes, Great Planes has a few that are about 25% and 33% I think and now loks like Horizon is releasing one in the same size class as the GP
I for one LOVE it, the CAP is all time favorite and I never caught onto the YAK/Sukhoi craze (although I own a Sukhoi, I know...)
What do you guys think about it? Is it to fill in the 40-50cc range with an another aerobat or is it a legitimate attempt at bringing back this tumbling monster?
I am pulling the trigger on the WH to match my DA50 as soon as my credit card gets a break

Hi All..........Heres a little quiz that will get you thinking. What is the oldest "SCALE" aerobatic 3-D capable airplane being flown and kitted today?

BOTH the 232 and the Yak are great aerobatic machines.

Lanier Laser 200 would be my first guess. The Dalotel has even better 3D layout but I can't think of anyone that sells one today. A Pitts would be on the list but everything I see on the market now is more for scale rather than a viable 3D aerobat.

BINGO YOU WIN. I remember when it came on the market, I just couldn't believe my eyes. I think it was around 600.00 for the kit which was also unbelievable at that time. And, all these years later it's still capable of competing with the best of them. One things for sure though.........You just dated yourself. Bob

No apologies neccesary sir, it was a good history lesson
Mike McConville just posted their new CAP can accept a DA50, I get the feeling they "secretly" tested it to be sure lol
At 80" and with a few minor changes I think it will be a good replacement for the old purple monster they discontinued.

RE: CAPs' are back!!!!????
Been pokin' my nose in here every so often to see what ya'll are sayin' about the allmighty CAP.
Obviously, my screen name should say a little something about how I feel about them. I would just like to let everyone know that I have a CAP in about 3 different sizes, the largest of which is the 40% CARDEN. Furthermore, I would also like to say that I keep an extra 40% CARDEN CAP kit right here just in case I "put mine in"...... I will never be without a CAP
As far as I knew, CAPs have never gone away, so how can they be back?!

RE: CAPs' are back!!!!????
Does anyone actuallly sell the plans, parts for a Goldsmith? Do you have to contact Goldsmith himself. Im currently having a 3w 44% cap finished in scale detail done up in Chapmans scheme. My first ever RC plane was a the GP .40 Cap kit that I still have to this day10 years later. The cap has always been my favorite plane and it will always be.

The GOLDSMITH CAP is a RARE bird. The one I am planning on picking up is PLANS, FOAM and 2 piece COWL. For a canopy and wheel pants, I will have to order the 3W parts. The plane has never been KITTED, but Pete has cut a few out and sold them. Actually, Pete designed it and someone else has cut the last few of them for him and I just happen to know who that is.
