H9 33% Edge 540 - 100cc engine?
Anyone out there flying the H9 33% Edge 540 with a DA 100 or any other 100cc engine?
I have been flying mine with a ZDZ 80 but the engine was baffed and I didn't want to get it fixed so I pulled it and bought a used DA 100 with the intentions of selling the Edge and going to 35%.
Well plans have changed and I amnow thinking about keeping the Edge. Would the 100cc engine be too much? I know wingloading will go up as the DA is 2lbs heavier but...
So some input please....

The plane will fly fine with the DA100 -and I presume , their in cowl mufflers?
balance wise - not much of a problem -I have done three of these . but with different engines
All of the H9 33% models are basically the same --same size - same weight etc.. all very good -easy to setup models and none will be excessivrly nose/tailheavy if you just plave the required parts in the places needed for balance - in this case- keep the batts aft .
My current one even has 4" clipped from each wing panel and my own tip plates added - weight is now 23.25 lbs (ZDZ80Jand full tuned AMT pipe) -tyypical with DA is 24 lbs +- a bit just fine
Add a 26-27 " 10" pitch prop -n go fly - as for power being to much - forget that - it will be fine- I crank the 27x10 Mejzlic at 6500 on the ground- avoid full throttle yanking around .

I know of two people who have this combination and i have the Extra with a BME and I can say they all are a joy to fly. Just maintain good throttle management and you will be fine.

Scale Rules,
I have two (2) set up with BME 110's and you need the weight reduction for balance.
With the DA100 you will need to install your batteries way back in the tunnel behind the rudder Pull/Pull assy. I know this because my first H9 Edge 540 had the DA100.

A friend has one that I fly regularly. The plane flies good, but we both think it would fly better if it was a pound or two lighter. He's going to put a ZDZ 80 in it and move the DA100 to a 35%. That would be the optimum setup. If you already have the plane and engine, put 'em together. You'll enjoy it. It just won't be the lightest setup.
