Another dozen flights today. I thing I burned 3/4 of a gallon. The G-62 is now coming to life.

What does the "91K" above the 54 on the star mean or stand for.

rdb127,

Are you happy with the performance of the G62 lite along with the ESComposite pipe? Which pipe length did you go with [ baffle distance inside the pipe] plus did you modify a DA return to center header to fit? Thanks for any info that you can share as I,m going to Toledo and plan on picking up the necessary parts there.

thx Dave

DLEVETT

By the end of the day today I have 6 flight hours, just started into my third galllon. After having the pipe slip loose twice I am using a different material, got that problem fixed... got the needles all out of wack- then set them right (always learing) then fixed the endpoints of the throttle and today was a real pleasure to fly.

I now have the G-62 set at 7500 rpm and the transition through the middle is silky smooth. Response is great now and I wonder if I will be spoiled when I go back to my DA-50 Extra. I have tried 9 ways to heaven to get the burbble out of the bottom end of that.... nother story.

I believe that even when set up correctly the G-62 will shake the airframe more than many of the 50 cc's. The wood airframe after 6 hours has held up perfectly. I did have cracked a canopy lip and the intake of the engine (caught it just starting-will be inspecting the cowl regularly now) but I blame it on having the G-62 so out of wack that it would be my own fault.

Having said that, I still enjoy the opportunity to run the G-62 on the pipe. The header is a modified 25 mm DA flex header (I think it measures 11 inches) the pipe has the baffle set at 17.5. The engine has a bellow when screaming the upline. The Vess 23A just keeps grabing air- that is a neat prop!!

For you guys wanting the SD cf gear I believe that they certainly will have their limit. I dropped one in today and felt I had to inspect. There are no visible cracks although I expected that there would be. It is just that the gear did not give as much of a bounce-so they were very stiff- how many harrier landing would they take before something has gotta give somewhere. JMO

RdB....that is the baddest G-62 I have heard....has Ralph seen the video???

Makes me wonder if I SHOULD put the DA stickers I got from Maudib today, on my Yak.

Cant wait to see it with a 24 x 8 MenzS and Synthetic oil. It really sings.

Thanks Dave. My smile muscles hurt from a long day of smiling It is a great plane. I was even thinking of moving out my unbuilt 33% AM Yak if I could get close to breaking even. Fat chance, I see somewhere that Chief Aircraft is selling them for $599-629 depending on color and free shipping!!

I am thinking the 3W80XI on full tuned pipe when Chris releases the 107 inch (was it Extra or Yak).[X(] . Might go something like, 107 inches, 25 lbs dry 54 lbs of thrust, well a guy can dream can't he?

I wrote Robert Vess and asked when the 24A is coming out. No answer yet. I told him I would be a guinea pig if he was in the test stage and would't mind paying for my prop. For now I think I will get a couple of gallons on it with the 23 prop.....there just ain't nothing wrong with that prop. Somewhere in my trek I was told that the E Composite pipe like to be run above 7300 to make the pipe work.

Oh yeah, a big thanks to flyinrazrback who helped me sort through my pipe problems. The guy is sharp.

This one says breaking in the G-62 but I think I am more breaking the the beast. Complete with indecisive harrier landing.

That definitively shows the "no snap on elevator" performance we've come to expect from EF...

Hello, Is anyone running the ES pipe with the B60 with the baffle at 18.5? That is what he sent me. Is this right.
