Default SD-MODEL

Anyone else wondering what happened to the discount promised by SD MODELS
When the last big shin dig went down.
I was just cruising thru their website today and found a direct link from the new
SD MODEL web site to the SD home web site in China.
I paid this price for my Yak back 1 1/2 years ago and now they have it posted
for the same price as when I bought it.
I know that they make good aircraft at a reasonable price but why promise
discounts and not deliver.
Does anyone know if this will be the case or should we just expect that the
mentioned discounts are not going to happen.

I really do not know the answer to that.It has been explained by Garret but it sounded weird
to me.Not downing anybody just saying I do not think we will really ever know the real truth.
I believe that Racin-Jason-r4 is now the main man for SD maybe he will chime in and let us
know if this was just a scam to retain the customers or if they will honor their statement.
There stuff is priced okay right now as I have said and they do make a good aircraft.
What will probably happen is that this will be ignored and they will hope that this whole
matter will go away.

Not sure about everything else, but the 150cc stuff is a good bit less expensive. I bought two 37.5% Yaks in the past. They were around $1700 or so. Now they sell for $1350 a piece. Most of their 150 sized planes were in that range. Their 260 is now $1200 or so. Again, can't speak to everything else, but their 150 sized planes are in fact a good bit less than before.

Go to the Troy Built Models site where you will find the standerd versions cheaper then they were last year and you will find the HP versions at the same or less price. The container of planes and some parts has arrived in Miami and will be in house early next week.

Guys, I am not trying to get a fight going. but it seems that if this was any other post about SD then Garret and Jason would be running to the computers to state how much of a stand up company this is.
However since they have the pictures posted on here with the date in the picture and all the proof they will not comment.

I own a very customer oriented busy.It is a body shop and if I tell a customer I will do something then come hell or high water I had better deliver or I will have one very pissed customer on my hands.

I was just wondering what the excuse might be and as of yet have not seen one.

I could care less about the drama or internal politics.

I just want to know if the planes fly good and, when you pay for it--do ya get it?

Brokestab, the planes are priced as low as they can be right now and still be able to make a profit. Many of the planes did drop in price like stated above. A few stayed the same. There is no excuse coming from SD. The prices are set for right now and this is where they will stay until the market changes.
Garrett
p.s. I think the picture you posted of the old website was to say 10-15% off not 50%. No one can cut 50% off.

I for one don't really care what they call themselves now.....either TOC , aviation models , SD-models......whatever. garrett and jason have stuck with it and the planes are still awesome and are still at a very reasonable price........don't get what your beef is with them? Who friggin' cares what the planes are called......they fly great! I don't think you can really charge much less for an airplane , and expect the company to stay in bussiness. As far as that goes.......I think what was stated by people at SD-models was that they would try to be as competitive as possble with their prices........they've done that from what i have seen.

One thing though..........I know SD-models don't have the "russian thinder" scheme available as of yet...i don't get that. That was by far the biggest seller i beleive. It was always the hardest to keep those planes in stock with that color scheme. garrett.......you guys plan on coming back out with that scheme?

Yes, that is nice.

I've got an original Edge 540 from BME. The first version, before the VII and VIII came out. Is it reasonable to expect BME to still have a set of stabs or wings for my old Edge?

Can a guy still get parts for the WildHare Edge? The original one? I doubt it.

How long do they have to carry the spare parts to make you happy? I can't get any parts for my Edge, so when I build it--it's gonna be flown hard and abused. No point in trying to avoid the inevitable. It's gonna crash some day and I won't be able to get parts for it. In reality, it's only a 2yr old model. I think it's rediculous that I can't buy parts for a 2yr old ARF. But, thats just me. I think a manufacturer should continue to support the models for about least 3yrs. That seams to be the lifespan of the average ARF today.

Just points to think about. Spare parts would be great. Having spare parts 2yrs or 3yrs down the road would have me buying ALL my planes from them. I'm not the type to run out and buy the newest model every season. I fly planes for a long time, unless I wreck them. I've been flying my World Models 300S for about 4 yrs. 450 flights +/- I'll still fly it--after I put the gear back on it. Had a rough landing.[sm=red_smile.gif]

Rcpilet,

Yes you can still get those parts for the Edge V1 and many more. However those parts will run out enventlly as it is going on or over three years since it was produced.

They do have good aircraft.
They are priced pretty good and come in good schemes.
I just do not know why they offered the discount knowing that they never intended to stand by it.
I will buy their aircraft and continue to fly them. Please understand that I am not knocking the aircraft ,maybe the management and their word but not the planes them self.

Broke Stab
if you feel that way about SD,lay it to rest, maybe you had a bad experience, does not justify badgering a company.Thats just my opinion.

Hey Garret (Torquen) could you comment on the spare parts issue,, I am looking hard into buying the mostly Red 35% Yak from yaw,, and I was wanting to know the availibility of spare parts,, lets say at any given time I break the fuse, can I get one in the next 2 weeks or so, I saw on www.sd-model.com that the spare parts are listed and the prices are great, but I want to know about the availibility,, thanks,

My SD 35% YAK is without a doubt, the best flying model to join my fleet. DA 100 swing'n a Vess 27B, and it has awesome performance. Thanks for getting these birds over here Garrett.

If you check TBM you will see that the 30% ($499) and 35% (%599) are selling for less than when they wore the AM badge. What's the problem?
