Yeah I had my eye on it since I first saw it in the magazine. But I think I like the 1/3 scale Matt Chapman CAP 580 better. Just looks more realistic.

The 580 is a lot heavier and the scheme is like Woody Allen either you love it or hate it. I hate it. Mr. Allen on the other hand is great.

The question is, "Is it the same ARF as before, or has it been updated with features like those on the new Extra?"

from what I have heard, its simply a re-issue becuase of the demand again for it. I have one thats nib thats going on the bench once I get cash for the motor but its nice knowing I can get parts for it

I'm sure it will have some enhancements over the last version(s). That would be a nice home for a DA-85.

I bet ya it's the exact same kit. If it' wasn't it would be the same price as the Edge.

It's $50 less than the edge, I'm sure it's the same kit, but it's build process has to have changed from 3+ years ago.

Just my opinion, but now I think Hangar 9 (Horizon) is just taking advantage of us..... Typically, price is determined by demand, overhead expenses, R&D, labor for writing a manual and some other miscellaneous items....... Well, they have already done the R&D and the manual on this one several years ago and paid for that with the first runs of this plane. Why not cut the modelling community a break and give us a great plane at a decent price. I don't mind if they make a little money on me, but if it isn't going to be an UPDATED version, then they are trying to rape us.......

Again, just my opinion

Good plane. As to Horizon taking advantage- in my opinion $800 is a bargain. It's built, covered and painted- and painted in good automotive paint to boot. I wouldn't do it for $800. Would have liked to have seen a new scheme though.

To try to clear things up a bit.......

I am not saying that the plane is not worth what they are going to be asking for it, just that all of the work was already done on this one. They simply just had to upload all of their original programming, fire the laser up and have them built. It is not like they started from scratch on this one. For this reason, they could do us a favor and reduce the cost some.

I know that this (at least the origianl one) is a great performing aircraft and that it is priced according to the market for this size of plane, but hey, why not cut us a better deal?

Jim
I've got nothing against them making a buck. It's called capitalism.

So, everybody hold off and don't buy any of them. Stick them with all those containers full of ARFs. Guarantee, in less than a year, they'll be $550--600+/-

Have you checked the prices on the Chip Hyde ARFs lately? Getting lower and lower every day. They all fly good. But, no more support or parts. When you break it--it's gone. I was just checking prices on the DV the other day. Getting into my comfort zone.

Remember how cheap the Goldberg 30% Ultimate got right before they got discontinued? And the H9 80" Alitalia?

I'm poor, so my general MO is to wait for the rest of you guys to beta test the first couple shipments. Then you guys do all the work and find all the trouble spots and figure out how to fix it. I buy it when it goes on sale or gets discontinued. Read the forums on RCU and then assemble it.

I fly old and outdated models. In a year or two I'll be flying all those left over Yaks and you guys will be onto the next craze. I'll fly those in 2010. Thats what a poor fella has to do in order to fly these monsters.
