Hi guys.
I just finished Great Planes 25% Yak 54 with OS 160 FX in the nose and pull-pull on the rudder.
I moved the engine all the way to the front and the battery pack is already in
the engine box but it balances at 6.25" from the Leading Edge.
It is meant for 3D but I am afraid it might be uncontrollable.
I would hate to put any extra weight in the nose... the other option would be to change elevator
halves servos Futaba S9153 to smaller ones but I would not like doing it either.
Can you give me some input on the CG location, I do not mind it far AFT as long as I can controll the model.
Thank you.

Heavier Spinner... how would I do that? The size is predetermined.
Lighter Tail Wheel .... the one that came with ARF is already small and light, smaller will turn into a skid ...LOL
Thanks anyway.

I just wonder if anybody flew that plane with CG that far AFT.

It looks like most people are balancing it at the wing tube feeling that the recommended CG is way too far forward.
Here is a large thread about the plane. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=3474720

Thanks Bob,
I have read the thread, the most AFT number for CG was 6"
maybe someone had it set even further .... I hope to find out.

Mine is set at 5 3/4" and it flies fine. If someone has it at 6" then I bet an extra quarter inch won't really matter. Why not just add a bunch of weight temporarily to get is into the 5 3/4" range and see how you like it. You can take the weight out gradually as you become accustomed to it.
Balance on that bird is a little screwy. I had the same problem even with a Brillelli 46 up front. Ended up having to go from JR8611a's all in the tail to a p-p rudder, move all the radio gear forward, all batteries to the motor box, and finally, move the motor the the max forward position.

Thanks Al,
I guess that this is what I have to do ... put some weight in the nose, balance at no more than 6" and take the weight off gradually.

BTW, I have DA50 and initially wanted to put it in the nose but later on I decided to get a bigger plane for it.
