Default Reversing Y harness and 2x 5955

Due to my radios limitations,I may need to run a Y servo reverser for my elevators. This has worked in my smaller planes just fine.
I am concerned that 2 x 5955's in a 27% Extra may be demanding too much from this reverser??
Is the Expert heavy duty OK?

You have Hitec digitals. Beg, borrow or steal a Hitec programmer from a friend. The reversing Y is a joke if you want any kind of precision out of the plane. Don't use it. Use the Hitec programmer or get a JR Matchbox, Futaba servo synchronizer, or Smart-Fly Equalizer.

You have a lot of GOOD options. The reversing Y is NOT one of them.

This time I can help you out, Nitro. Rcpilot did not steer you wrong, I used one on a fun fly giant plane I had and it was ugly! The Futaba is quite pricey, Smart-fly looks good too. I guess what I'm saying is if you've got to use one spend the money.

You're saying you need two 5955's for the elevator on a 27% Extra??????[X(]

If you can't afford a Hitec Programer, one option you might do is send both the 5955 servo's to Hitec or Servo City and have them cinkranize both and reverse the other servo for you. but make sure you label the reversed servo just in case you use it in another plane down the road.

Its because I have only a 6 channel available at the moment and need to run the ailerons seperate and the other channel is used for the smart fly cut off.
The programmer cant do anything for me,as there is not an extra channel available.
And no,I dont need these servos on this plane, all this gear is going into another superior airframe later in the season.
My main concern was that there would be too much load on the reverser.

Fancman, don't be so critical. It could be two S-148's for all the servo types matter, he still needs to drive a pair of servos accurately that are on opposite sides of the plane. There's a lot of people that buy higher grade servos than a plane needs so they will have them for a larger future project.

The least expensive, accurate way to go is the Smart Fly equalizer. It only uses one receiver port.

nitro wing,
The programmer can help you. Reverse one of the servos and run them both from one channel through a "Y". You will not need a reversing Y.
I set up a 28% Edge that way and it works fine. You will loose the redundancy of a separate channel for each side of the elevator.
Another nice thing about the programmer is that you can perfectly match the deflection of both servos. Set them both up as well as you are able to and then fine tune one to the other. Use one as a fixed reference and tune the other to it.
I have never used a reversing Y but suspect the inaccuracies are introduced by the reversing circuitry. By using a plain Y you will eliminate that noise.
Good luck.

Problem solved
I am using my older JR XP783 pcm.
I put the elevator on its channel and slaved aux 2
The SF ignition cut off is working on Gear channel
If the aileron mixes with aux1,everything will be fine.
I have the Expert reverser on my Funtana X100 and had 0 problems,it worked great, same travel and speed both ways. But I was driving regular JR sport servos.
Not sure how high demand digitals would have worked on it,I never did try it in the end.
Thanks for the replies

Use a JR matchbox and no more worries.

But one of the servos would have needed to be reversed. One cannot install one backward with a longer linkage? I think I tried that years ago without sucess..?
Interesting comment, but I gave up on that route anyway, and used another radio.

nitro wing.

If you need to use a servo reverser, this is the one to get.

http://electrodynam.com/rc/EDR-106/106faq.shtml

I have it in my TOC YAK 54 30%. I am doing it for the same reason as you. I bought a Futaba 7C FAAST 2.4 Ghz. I am also using all 5955 TG servos all around. You run out of channels in a hurry on the gas planes.

I did a lot of research on reverser's, and this is one to consider.

If your setting up a plane with Hitec digitals the programmer should be a no brainer. Set you end point, neutral position, and direction all in minutes. No need for subtrims, miss matched end points, or servo equalizers or similar. For the cost of an extra 5955 (plus a few dollars) get yourself the programmer and be done with it.

Thanks guys
I used my 7 channel and got the elevators working fine.
I will probably buy the programer in the end.I am just setting the servos and linkage up.I doubt I will fly it for another 2 months or so,
just wanted to test the install ,linkages and throws for now.
