Could I use the second output of my flightpack to power a smoke pump like the Skywriter?or is this just risking power draw and interference.
This is in a 50cc with 5x 5955,one 645,single JR receiver

The EMI/RFI from the pump's motor may affect your radio as you correctly imply, why take the chance? Is it worth the 4-5oz of another battery? Most pumps don't need much more than a 4.8V RX pack.
On the other hand if you do decide to proceed, range test it on the ground, motor running and smoke on.
Fly safe!

I decided to go a little different route, but no ill effects.... my RcExcl ignition and TME Super Smoker II are running off my dedicated 2S A123, 1100mah VPX battery. My flight pak, just like yours, is running dual switches, dual inputs to the R921 RX from the single 2S A123, 2300mah batt. JR x9303 on 2.4 Ghz, no issues at all.

Not A123 but similar. I set up my brother's 33% yak and pulled the power for the TME smoke pump off the ingition battery. I ran a smart fly switch that had two ouput leads and plugged one into the pump and the other into the ingition. The receiver a Futaba 319 PCM with no issues at all and good range and flight. I can't see how a 6v nimh would be different in usage than the A123 except that the A123 would probably work better.

well dump the sullivan skywriter or whatever smoke pump you have and go with the new Harris Smoke Pump. It is super light weight and needs a very small battery to run it...they work awesome...do a search on this site for the new harris smoke pump

I havent got a smoke pump yet, just playing with some options so far.Taking power off my second outlet, and using the flightpack would save some weight.I see the Slimline Showtime comes with a battery.
They claim weight of 227grams,about 1/2 pound, must be with battery?
I'll check the Harris also

I use this with no problems at all. The price is right and it works great.

here you go, here is the link. I know speaking with other pilots that have used this system that it makes awesome smoke. The pump is extremely lightweight, small and compact and uses very little power

It's all very relative, I suppose..... I chose the TME because of past experience. Also because I have limited hobby $$$ and prefer to put the serious money in good servos, etc.
If money was no object - the Harris system is absolutely the "gold Standard", from the TOC days.
However, there are many ways to skin the cat(s)..... like the guy that bought the $19 smoke pump from Sullivan that is used for filling tanks.... modified it for use with a cheapo ESC from an old foamy, and had a heck of a "good" quality airborne system for CHEAP.

Please dont forget that main question was "If I could use my A123 2300 mah flight pack to share my servos and pump"
I never seem to use much mah on my flights, and it seems a pump would not burden the pack much more, unless I will get some RF intreference, I dont want to try.
This would save me an extra battery in my airframe that is already somewhat cluttered and reaching max weight for my style of flying.
I dont want to pull off my ignition either, its a 1600 nimh 4.8.
I have read that almost all pumps like 6 volts.
So If I could power a pump off my A123,things would be fairly simple and little weight added.

Yes,that one looks OK,but I dont plan to share the ignition, but the receiver pack.
I dont think draw will be an issue, just wondering if noise is going to be a problem. Its a smaller 50cc,an additional battery pack will make a diffrerence

I already run a smartfly cut off,so I was looking at the regular pump.Wonder why the recomend a fairly large capacity battery? If I ran the pump on its own,a 800-1000 mah should be enough? or draw off the A123... I am looking at intermittent smoke only 3-4 minutes during flight.

I haven't noticed any unusually high load on my batt or any significant loss of flight time. I think they recommend the large batt as a safety factor. It would be rare for me to use smoke more than twice on any given day so I don't even consider battery capacity as a major factor. All I know is the pump and setup works for me and it's way less expensive than most other systems I've seen.
To tell the truth I think the very best smoke system around is the B&B smoke system that uses a diaphram pump that works off the engine crankcase pressure. That system never fails to work and needs no battery. I had one years ago that was flawless. I'm just leary of tapping the engine crankcase on my new 3W106CS
