I would like to know what kind of power system components needed for a giant gasser ?

Could you be a little more specific? I assume by your use of term power system you are talking about an engine. It depends a lot on the size airplane and how much you want to spend.

The subject is too broad as you stated it.

Simple answer,

You need 1 servo per surface for 50 cc and usually 2 per surface (except elevator) on 100cc and 2-3 per surface on 150cc (except elevator 1-2).

You should run 2 batts/switches on 100cc or larger. I prefer to run 2 on 50cc as well but most don't

Depending on the type of batt/voltage you may need 2 regulators or 1 regulator that can handle 2 batts.

You need 1 batt for the ignition system (again maybe a regulator depending on the voltage).

Any gas engine I reccommend an Optic kill (or similar device) for the igntion as well.


Now the debate comes after all this.

depending on the servo choice and RX choice you may want to run a Power Expander like the Smart-Fly versions.

You don't have to though if you run the correct size batts and have no binding in your system.


I like the Smart-Fly EQ6. It has matchboxes built in, Regulator built in and Optic Kill built in. Only thing extra you would need is a regulator for the ignition depending on the type of batt/voltage you run there.

if it is bigger than 35% then double it......

Go modern. A123 batteries give lots of power, recharge VERY fast and don't need a regulator.
