I've read a few guy's are finding these tail heavy. I am thinking of putting a CRRC 40cc in one. I think this engine is about 2.85lbs. Are you guy's able to balance your's with just batteries being moved forward? I spoke with Tom at Valley View RC, he has the 260 with this engine and he was able to balance without any lead. He did not know of any 300's with the 40cc in it. Even read that one guy had to add 6oz. up front. That's waaaayyyy too much!

How about anyone with a ZDZ 40 or BME 44, anyone try these?

I had a 45 in mine, moved batteries up and it was fine.

If you move the engine out 1/4" it does wonders and you can probably leave batteries alone. I didn't have an al spinner.

i have a frist place 2.4 i had put 10 oz on the nose.

That's what I'm trying to avoid. Maybe I need to start looking at other 27% planes.

i have 3 27% planes they all fly about the same.aw the only one i had to add weight too.u could move the motor out some .i'm going to give it try over the winter.

Someone else moved his engine out also. Forget where that thread was. I would rather not add any lead or move the engine out. I really wanted that Aeroworks Extra 300. I started looking at other manufactures of 27% planes. I wonder what engine would work on that AW and get it to balance without any lead?

have u thought of goinng with a 50cc extra my 27%just sit in basement after i got my 50cc yak.

Yes! I sold my BME 50's, wish I would have kept one. My suv is a little small for some 50cc's. With the economy the way it is I'm trying to use what I have here. I have everything I need, and then some, just not a plane. If I go back up to 30% I'll need an engine also, so now were talking $900 - $1000 for a good arf and good 50cc - 58cc. It's not out of the question though! The variety of 30% planes is enormous compared to 27%.

I have a Brilleli 46CC in mine, I added some weight to the cowl by gluing in on the chin, then removed some after flying the plane for awhile, it flies great, excellent plane...highly recommended!

I am trying to decide between the 260 or 300 Extra 35cc. The 300 is advertised with a larger wing area. Are the wings the same on the two models, or not?

A little less wing area and a little shorter fuse on the 260. The 260 will balance with a lightweight 40cc, 2.8lbs. Seems as though the 300 needs weight in the nose to balance with lightweight engines. Really wanted the 300 for a CRRC 40 I have. Have a H9 260, so don't want another 260 and don't want to buy another engine. Some guy's have added 10oz. up front to get the 300 to balance. Hope you have a heavy engine in mind for power Frank!

Tom at Valley View RC built a 260 with a lightweight 40cc, when I spoke with him he didn't know of anyone that had built a 300 with that engine. They also offer a package, AW 260 and 40cc engine, here is the link if you're interested. They have great customer service!

Yes, I was worried about the balance problems that I read about with the 300. I guess I will go with the 260. For an engine, I will use a DA 50 since I am at 5000' altitude. I have seen someone here fly a H9 260 with a DA 50, and I liked the way it performed.

About moving the engine forward to help the balance problem, according to my calculations using a 3 lb. engine on a 14 lb. aircraft, moving the engine 1/4" forward will move the CG approximately 1/16". That is not much. A 1.5 oz. weight on the engine box will accomplish the same thing.

At that altitude I don't blame you. Have a BME 44 in the H9 260, it's more than enough, here! I could live with an oz. or 2 myself, but 10oz., no way. I'm with you on moving the engine also, not going to do that either!

I am in the final stages of the extra 300 w zdz 40 tonight without the tank or prop spinner and throtle servo it was slightly tail heavy at three inch from leading edge i will keep you posted
