Best 50cc ARF!??
Hi everyone!
we all know that the CA27 and the AW 29 (seems to be back now!) are beasts..but if we are looking at super performance in the 50cc cateogry..and if we want an ARF...that is similar in perf with the above mentioned planes..
what are the options??
thanks,
Mayur

I would reckon the DP Edge or the GP Patty Extra ARF. I havent seen either, but RCU discussions say they are quite good. Even I would like to hear more about this please.

Either the GP patty or the H9 80" Cap. I have the Patty, but haven't assembled it yet. Another guy at my field has one with a ZDZ 50 on it. Nice performance, very smooth. I plan on using a DA-50, maybe a BME 55 depending on status since I won't be buying it for about a month.
Another guy at my field put together the H9 cap for someone, and said it is better quality, in his opinion, than the patty. But it has a one piece wing, and he still likes the patty a lot.
No personal experience with the DP stuff, but it is supposed to be TOP of the line.

Best 50cc ARF!??
I've got a SuperKraft Laser2000 and a Texas Hurricane, both are built well. The Laser is really something (as far as ARF's), mostly stick built with reinforced gussets and cross braces throughout. Everything section is cross-braced and all joints have triangles of fiberglass cloth for added strength. It looks like a maze of triangles looking inside the fuselage toward the back. Fiberglass reinforced firewalls on both. Nice cowls, flying wires(that work), Ultracote covering, and aluminum stand-off control horns. Some off the hardware is poo like the tires and tail-wheel but most have there own preferences there anyway. All in all both are great ARF's.

So far, I have not been impressed with Extreme Flight. I have sent them emails, asked him a question on this board all several days ago now, and unless it's advertising, they don't reply. Their ARF's seem a little on the pricey side as well.

GP PW Extra. I bought mine after talking to one of the best pilots at our field and hearing all the planes he has owned in this catagory and for the money he said it's the best built and flying one of them all. I have only owned one other (in this size) but I'm very happy with mine and 3500+ post later on the thread in the ARF section should tell you something also.
They only need to come out with other color schemes so people will be able to tell them apart at IMAC events.

Extreme Flight RC planes are expensive, but lets look at what you get in them...
STANDARD:
Ultrakote covering, carbon fiber wing and stab tubes, rocket city (nelson) hardware! and the best 3d flying machine in the 50cc range period..
Ask Wayne, he says the extreme flight yak outflew his h9 cap 232 33%
You may pay more, but you get what you pay for in these planes.

DP Extra Version 3
I'm going on the third one. Really, that's how good it is.
1. DP Extra version 1 with FPE 2.4 20 x 10 Bolly 7400 rpm 15.8 lbs. Flies great 3d but vertical isn't that good.
2. DP Extra Version 1 with BME 50 22 x 10 Bolly 7250 rpm 16.5 lbs. WOW 3d and unlimited vertical.
So why get another one?
DP Extra Version 3. Wing has been moved aft about an 1" to make balancing easier for light engine application. He made a cradle for the canopy so that it is easier to use without cracking the canopy. It lost about a pound in weight. I have the plane assembled with nelson (rocket city) control horns all around and it came in at just 9.5 lbs. Add the DA 50r, servos, battery, prop, etc. approx. 5 lbs. 14.5-15 lbs.
Should have the engine in next week and maiden flight in that weekend.
No regrets.

Best 50cc ARF!??
thanks for the replies guys....seems most people are happy with the GP extra...however I might just go with the LASER for the simple reason that I have a CA 27% Kit with me which I dont wanna build it rt now, dont feel like getting another extra...the Extreme Flight YAK looks too cool, but then I want something that is available rt now, dont wanna wait...So whic one now?
GP extra?
Laser?
or do I wait for the YAK?
(Krazyc, fly3dnyc I know DP extra is a nice plane, couple of guys have it here...but somehow just dont feel like getting it..dunno why..probably coz one of the guys crashed his due to flutter)

RE: Best 50cc ARF!??
I have a Kangke Laser as you can see the only draw backs are:
Equipment placement is critical and you have to use your imagination as far as securing it all down. There are only so many places to put things and some many ways to keep them held in place. Mine has a Sachs/Dolmar 3.2 in the nose and with ign batteries it came out a little nose heavy. In order to change that I have to tear the plane up and start over.
As far as quality everything on this plane is excellent except
1. The gear is way to springy at 17.5 lbs
2. Tires forget then throw them away.
3. Cowling goes on one way and that's it, if you motor and muffler wont fit too bad.
or you can carve your cowling up like a dead turkey and have the bottom open
completely.
4. Tail gear throw it away buy something better and more functional.
This plane is a good first choice for IMAC or any first big bird after that there are others that are lighter ( also more fragile) and different designes. I like the Kangke simply because there seems to ge a healthy supply and I can buy parts they are interchangeble.

I have the Kange Laser.
Flies like its on rails.
ZDZ60 no balance problems.
Agree on the Landing gear and wheels but that is an easy fix.
superb covering job...not a wrinkle.

RE: Best 50cc ARF!??
Interesting in comparing the Extreme Flight Yak 54 with the Conchen A/C Yak 55.
EF Yak 54
14.5 to 17 pounds
1450 sq ft
87" wing. Designed around the DA50 (or other 50CC examples).
CAC Yak 55
19 to 21 pounds(!)
1500 sq ft
85" wing. 42 to 70cc engines.
Sounds like you are getting quite a bit for your money with Extreme Flight. And a lighter wing loading....
