Yes I am aware, I am curious if anyone has tried that setup. (5995 on 7.2v)

mglavin, have you read anything about the smart fly EQ10. if so what is the differance and do you think it's a good thing?
i plan on using hitech 5955's and using a programer on the next set up. also will the 5955's hold up with 7.2 batteries without regs?

I looked on Bob's site and didn't see any info on an EQ10?

The 5955's are not rated for unregulated Lithium power sources, (8.4V is static after charge)... Many have attempted this and had less than desirable results.

I have one on my rudder on a 50cc Extra running on 6v batteries for many flight hours. The fact that they are factory programmed for 180 degree of travel makes one want to use a servo programmer for airplanes, but the good news is that I could get whatever travel I wanted on the rudder:D

The 7.4V rating of the 5995TG Robot servo is intended for ROBOTIC use not aircraft as the needs/requirements/demands are somewhat different. And as I noted the static voltage is 8.4V off charge with two Lithium’s in series.

Anything over 65 degrees travel arc in one direction is superfluous for our needs. If you have the desired 1:1 throw with your rudder surface you’re at the very least able to realize a whopping 60 degrees surface throw… The more desirable ratios that cause and affect mechanical advantage at say 1.25:1 net approximately 45 degrees throw which is more than adequate for most 3D jockeys and increases the surface torque by 25% too..

You’ll find the 5955TG is more suitable for aircraft uses specifically with respect to the 180 degrees travel arc of the 5995TG at 100% ATV with most TX’s. This eats up system resolution when ATV is reduced to accommodate the required travel arcs of the model/surface specific needs. Essentially the movements or steps are grander verses finite.

So my conclusion after reading this thread is that:
1) I shuld use good battery witch can deliver the juice!
2 Many of you dont use powerboxes in 50 cc airplanes!

Make sure your batteries-leads will not dip in voltage at the RX-servos when the 5955's draw some current, they reset if they get to low on voltage.

I have 8 5955 in a 36% and I get spikes of 12+ amps, the connectors are good for ~1-5 amps continous each depending on type and brand.
This is measured with +/-22 degree on ail-elev and 30 on rudder for throws.
