Default Scale Dummy Continental Engine

Has anyone used this product? They make a couple of different scale sizes.

http://www.topnotchkits.com/index_files/TN_Kit11.htm

I bought a quarter scale version to put in my Cub. I used to have an O.S. 1.60 twin installed, but it wasn't powerful enough for the bloated weight of my aircraft so I went with a Saito 1.80 single. I wanted to have a dummy engine in it, so I settled on this piece. Went together very easy and the finished product was well worth the effort.

Whats the weight of yours?

My Balsa USA Cub has had a few ground and tree incursions and is up to 22 1/2 lbs. with 32 oz. on the nose caused by hidden servos behind the cabin. Still flies great.

Here's mine with the 1.60 twin installed. I'm not piloting. I'm doing the video.

Beautiful . The sound on the twin is most authentic. May I suggest, remove the background music as the engine's sound is the attraction.

So u are now flying it with a Saito 1.8 4 stroke? If yes what prop size are u using. I have on mine an 18x6 master screw.

Not a very exciting flight except that we dead sticked. As it ran out of runway (barely) it fliped over but no damage at all. Turns out the engine mounting bolts loosened. Changed the prop from the 18x6 to a 16x6 with which it flew. Need to do some trim adjustments, am in the process.
I have to admit that the glide was superb, what a sight. Majastic to say the least. My buddy who is the flight instructor at our club was the skillful pilot on that flight that managed to keep the flight from becoming a disaster.

I will report again when we get it in the air again but not before Friday.

Happy 4th everybody

Rafeek
