Servo power required for 30cc Extra 300
I am assembling a 11 lb, 73" span Extra 300.... it calls for a 30cc engine.
What size servos will I need?
I plan on 2 servos on the ailerons and two on the elevators, with one servo on the rudder.
How much torque will I need?
I was looking at HiTec HS-5665MH and HS-5685MH servos, operating with 6 volt power.
HiTec quotes 122 & 157 oz. in torque on 6V.
Is this a good choice? The servos are slightly less than $40 each.
Thanks for any help.
Don

The 5685's should be adequate for your plane. My buddy run a 73" Yak, about 11 1/2 lbs on XQ Power servos, I believe they are 4013's, around 160oz on 6volts. Certainly enough. If you plan on flying extensive 3D, it might be wise to select a servo in the 200oz range on the rudder. flytreetimes
