This is a scale 1/3 project in Sweden started in the end of november 2006.
So far so good. The fuselage sides are under construction. The original Tripacer (full scale) was flown with wheels or skiis in winter and on EDO 2000 floats in summer. My self I think I have about 150 hours in that Tripacer. Pictures of the original Tripacer comes later.

Here comes pictures of the original full size tripacer with wheels, skiis and floats. The right pictures is from 1985 (old painting)
Just dont know if i should paint the model in a old painting or the new one.

Steve, your wendell tri pacer looks good! Can you liven up this thread a little? Tell us how it balanced. Did you need to add weight, and if so, where? What engine did you use? If you have flown it, how did it go? What is the finished weight of the plane? Would really appreciate any further details you come up with!
(Sorry! Didn't see the above posts before I got wordy!)

Hi All
I thought the Steve, and maybe others, might be interested in a couple of Pacers currently based here in Warwickshire (U.K.). G-ATBX is a genuine Pacer, G-ARGY is a Tri-Pacer converted back to a tail dragger. I understand the conversion was done by reversing the main gear, as mentioned earlier in this thread.
Barrie.

Hi Bill,
The plane balanced as per the plans with no additional weight being added.Mine has the elevator+rudder servo`s in the tail as this whole section is detachable for transport, otherwise would not have fitted in our 307 SW.!
Engine is a 3W 56 twin.Ran the engine in yesturday at the club field and should be test flying in the next few weeks. Will post an update when flown.
Cheers

Hi Steve.
Both are hangered at Wellesbourne, just south of Warwick (there is also a Vagabond in the same hanger). The Pacer owner is an LMA member and usually happy to help out anyone interested. If you need pictures or info please let me know.

Test flew the Tri-Pacer last weekend. She flys great!Very stable and solid. You need to hold airleron input in the turn other wise she just rights herself, very stable indeed. She was impossible to stall and can fly at walking pace.Landings are slow and very easy, she justs sinks gradually, add the flair plus a touch of throttle just before touch down, beautiful!

Congradulations! Your plane looks great and glad to hear that it is a good flyer. My Pacer version of Hostetler's Tripacer is in the process of being painted right now; hopefully in a few more months it will take to the skies too.

RE: Piper Tri-Pacer from Wendell Hostetler is now here!!
Perhaps a little word of warning! When I called Hank Likes to order a gear, I had been told the gear cost $60 or so (J Silverstein on this thread). Likes told me it was $100, and he hung up when I said I thought it was $60. I called back, and decided to go the $100. When I got the gear, Likes had measured the side view on the plans to get the gear length. Thus, it was 1" short! Very rough job of welding. He sent another gear, and the rear leg was canted forward 15 to 20 degrees, placing the axle almost on the CG. One axle had tow out, the other had tow in! No good! After another call, I sent both back, at a cost of $8.45. Today, I got the latest version. Again, the gear legs are short, but this time by only 1/2", so I plan to make do as is. With phone calls, I now have close to $120 in two pieces of 1/3" wire, and they are still not what they should be. A lesson learned. I should have, and could have, made a simple jig, bent the wire, and had it welded locally. Total cost under $30. Oh Well!!!!

A bit of a puzzle this one,my main leg wire is also from Likes and is fine.I also paid $100.00 last year and I`m happy with the qaulity and workmanship.

(to outacontrol41) I built the stab incidence as shown on the plan. It checks a little positive to the wing, but apparently this is correct, since we have had testimony that the planes flys well!

ORIGINAL: touch and go
Albeit slowly, some progress has been made. See photos.

It looks great. Did you take a Tri-Pacer main gear and just mount it backwards in the forward location?
