Best 40cc Plane?
I'm looking for suggestions about the best 40cc plane on the market. They're not as common as 50cc planes, but I'm hoping someone will have some experience with this.
Thanks!

You probably didn't get a ton of responses because we need a little more info. Do you want a plane that can do just about anything? Are you looking for a fun sport flier? I have had my best experiences with the Great Planes Giant big stick with a 40cc gasser. Unlimited verticle, mild 3D, and with flaps it plops on the ground. I miss that plane more than anything. I hope Tower Hobbies does their easy pay on it again, I would buy it again.

RE: Best 40cc Plane?
Michael,
I'm thinking of Extras, Edges, and Yak/Sukhoi as examples. Most available seem to be 1.20 size and then jump to 50cc size. Definitely something that can handle the size and vibration of a gas 40cc.
Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Check out hangar 9. their cap 232 and extra 260 are ment for a lightweight 50cc, and depending on the power of your 40cc, it may work. Great planes also makes a cap that would work on a 40cc. Check out wild hare's small gas planes.

I fly a Precision Aerobatics Edge540 with an SPE40 petrol engine.
The 40 has more than enough grunt to pull this model around well.

If you're into building from a kit or plans, A Miles Reed 80" Extra 260 performs like it's full size big brother. Great flying plane with a 40cc engine but not a "true" 3-d type airplane.

If you like bipes the Great Planes Ultimate 3-D has a good following for an ARF (check out the thread under the "3-D Flying" forum). More or less built around the Fuji 43cc EI. FLies great as an IMAC if you don't want to go as wild with the control throws.

It's 71" and flies great with an SPE40. Good kit - easy build, great instructions and looks the part - and it's not overly expensive.
