A friend of mine is building a 12' Harvard and is having trouble finding wheels for it . Does anyone know where to get lightweight aircraft wheels 8 inches or larger in a style suitable for this plane . I have found large spoke-type ( 10" ) for WW1 style aircraft , but can't seem to find anything else . Any help would be appreciated .

I have been searching for 8" x 1 5/8" wheel and tire for about 3 years for my Curtiss Goshawk BFC-2. I just last weekend while looking for a wire bender found the tire you will see at the link below. It has a shipping weight of 1 lb so i assume it is a little less then that. It has a solid rubber tire and Poly 5 spoked rim and real bearing. Figured on removing most of the rubber, leave enough to hold a softer rubber build up. Also remove the roller bearings and replace with maybe a aluminum bushing, or maybe epoxy pot in a brass sleve of about a 1/4".

This is what I got from this company.
http://discountwheelandskate.com/pnwh.html
They were $18.95 each, pneumatic, nylon hub, and weigh about 1.5 lb each. They do have a 10mm bearing in them so you will need to sleve them or use metric mounting. They are going in a 33% Grumman Ag-cat which is going to be weighing in around 50 lb.
