Default WANTED: Bob Nelitz 1/3 Cub Build Article

Hi all...does anyone have the full build article for the Bob Nelitz 1/3 Scale J-3 Cub? I have what I thought was the whole article but after reading it, it ends in mid air! Maybe missing a page or two? Thanks in advance.

I have the complete article at home in Florida. I'm in NY state right now, and won't be back in FL until the end of July. If you haven't been successful in finding a copy by then - I'll keep track of this thread, and copy it for you.

Hi Jim...that would be fantastic. I appreciate your reply. Out of interest, are you the chap who drew the plans for a Piper Tomahawk?

Regards Scotty

Hi Scotty,

Yes - I am the Piper Tomahawk plan guy. I drew the plans for it and had my 1/4 scale model flying before Piper had any in producti9on. They gave me the three views after I saw the prototype plane.

Frenk99: I love cubs. I have a 1/3 and 40% scale J-3, and a 1/3 scale and a 40% J4-E. I am in NY now for the STARS Scale Rally, and will be flying my 40% J-3 powered with a DA-100 engine.

Jim.... I have seen your plans for sale on Ebay but didnt want to buy them due to not knowing if they were copies etc. I learnt to fly full size in a Tomahawk and have the Airsail kit I will build one day. I loved the Tomahawk. Was nice to fly although alot of folk rubbished it. Never could work out why.

My model didn't fly nearly as well as the Ercoupe that I deesigned. At high speed, it had a definite fish-tail. When I told the Piper engineers about it - they told me that the full scale did the same thing. They said that was probably because there was no fillet where the wing joins the fuselage.

My brother made a second model, and we widened the wing chord, and shortened the wing, and it flew a lot better. I painted my model to match one of the first production airplanes delivered into this area - 9284T - and twenty years later, my son soloed in that very same airplane.
