Ken I told ya already along with the avatar, change your nick to Huge Bird...
talking of avatars and signatures, the one I like most is Gordon's, "when you're inverted, down is up and up is expensive..."!!!

See ya

Marcus, I have been with Big_Bird from the beginning and I think I'll keep it. I know that Anthony changed from Cub Nut to Waco Nut when he became one.

I like Ross' signature line: "Up elevator is not always your friend".

I like the Britts term for the thing that keeps the bugs from hitting you in the face: "wind screen".

Hi Marcus

Lord B was my long lost brother! Us Brits do the pomp and ceremony rather well.

I just noticed you even have the transmit button in the joystick.

Those are single pole push button switches that Radio Shack used to sell. They happened to be just the right size for a 42% effort. I guess that I could hook one up to trigger a recording of the tower talking to the pilot or vice versa.

Also the buckle on the seatbelt is functional in that you insert the metal tab into the buckle and latch it like the real thing. What I don't see is the shoulder harness that was with the belt.

Ken and Ross,

I'm going to pay you guys the biggest compliment I can think of...

This thread is about a kit I didn't know existed, of an airplane I don't particularly care for, in a size I'm not familiar with, built by 2 guys i've never heard of, who fly a type of aerobatics that doesn't interest me a whole lot...

And yet, every time I hit "New Posts", I hope this thread shows up so i can see what you've done next!

HeHeHe Gordon, gotcha hooked. Yea. I've always liked the Super Decathlon. In fact I have put many miles on a 1/3 scale Hostetler SD with a ZDZ80RV in the nose. The aerobatics with a SD can be a lot of fun.

I usually do rolling turns starting from takeoff. Does that help? Ken wouldn't let me put that in the test flight profile.[8D]

I flew the SD 3 times today and it flew great. It is very aerobatic in a Decathlon kind of way. My good friend, Jim, was at the field with his 1/2 scale Spacewalker II so I made a few photos with the two of them. We borrowed his pilot to try it out in our plane and take him for a ride. He was made by Pilots by Diane but she is no longer in business. Jim crafted my instrument panel and the compass.

After the last flight the pilot hopped out and started spilling his cookies.

Hello Terry,

I think you did too much aerobatic maneuvers for the SapceWalker pilot. He looks almost ready to die

Both planes are fanstic and it is great that you put them together.

Continue to amazed us with great pictures! [X(]

I had a "scale" crash on my 30% Super Decathlon a few years ago, look how the pilot ended - this is no fake, the pix were taken without touching any part...

Haven't been here for a little while but saw Thomas's email address and dropped him a note then came over here.
Ken, its looking great! Marcus, well, the last post I had a feeling the pilot may have been a fatality.....but then many recover we know....or is it re-cover?
Have a wonderful day to all of you....I suspect it takes a little more runway on days like today...it was 107 in our front yard yesterday...today the forecast is about the same

Jim, Marcus pilot really had a bad day that day.

I'm really for this heat to break. The SD breaks ground in about 40' even in this hot weather.

Hey Jim,
nice to hear from you once again...

Yes, my pilot did not survive that crash however the SD was rebuilt and flown for another year or so, then sold about a year ago.
In the meantime I have built another 8 Super Decathlons for customers, and another bunch of 6 are ordered to deliver till ends of August.
Yep, I'm going professional - and that means I haven't had the time to build one for my own enjoyment - yet.

Have you ever finished yours??

Marcus
P.S. Winter has dropped in in the southern hemisphere...
