40% Gee Bee Z canopy
Does anyone have any leads on where to obtain a Hostetler 40% Gee Bee Z canopy. G&L Hobbies no longer supply it.
Cheers, Dave.

RE: 40% Gee Bee Z canopy
Hey Dave,
Wondered if you ever found a source for the canopy for the 40% Gee Bee Z?
I got the kit, the landing gear, fiberglass parts on the way from G&L, and decals from Cajun RC but am running headlong into a brick wall on a supplier for the canopy.
Talked to Hostetler too and he has no source at this point in time.
Man what a drag,
Bill

RE: 40% Gee Bee Z canopy
I haven't found a source. The canopy is mostly flat panels except for the top front portion. Shouldn't be too hard to make.
I am planning a trip to the Seattle Museum of flight where the Gee Bee Z replica is on display. I hope to take a lot of photos of the "Z"
Cheers,
Dave.

Great model and kudos on building that size!
I haven't looked at photos of real Z's in quite a while. I believe the canopy I have for the 33% Z I framed in the early 90's has a curved front. However, this may or may not be correct.
Flat stock can be used and put in place with a frame. The real airplane did have a canopy frame. If the front piece is curved, it can be easily made by "draping" stock over a mold and apply heat. Gravity will do the rest. Vac-forming isn't always necessary.
BTW. I provide graphicxs for the Z in all scales.

Let us know how you made out with that issue?
Good luck,
Charles

Sorry didn't realize that there were posts added on.....not getting notified[&o]
Gear normally runs $400 from Sierra Precision....here's their link:

Fiberglass parts ran me ~$200 plus shipping from G&L Hobbies
Haven't had any time to work out canopy issue............other planes currently higher on the "to-do" list.
Appreciate the heads up on the graphics............already have mine.

RE: 40% Gee Bee Z canopy
You can own my 33% Gee Bee Z, already framed, partically covered, gear, scale wheels, glass parts, canopy plus extras, complete for only 775.00.
A steal when you add up what you're spending on parts before other building expences. I offer Gee Bee Z graphics also.
I'd Post photos, but I believe RCU is having difficulties there at the moment.
Just send me an email, I'll send you photos.
