RE: 1/3 Scale J3 Cub Build
Tony I have also been watching your BUSA super cub build I am going to use your pulley pull pull for my Ali. but i am going to bring my servo outside of my wing panal so you can get to it without a access but the servo will be hidden inside the fuse ribs so you will not see in when the wings are plug in.

If anyone need the finest in quality computer cut cub graphics such as the the black lightning bolt stripe, custom wing numbers, bear cub logo, Piper front fuse logo in black and chrome and even the cool Continental head logos for your mok-up motor in chrome. All you need to do is e-mail this guy Jason he does great work [email protected] He does them in scale 1/4-1/3-1/2 or full scale home built any size and they look extremely authentic. Always glad to pass on sweet product info to make these great models look even better.

Glad to hear it's helping someone out. I aquired the plans for this plane and may consider a clipped version a future build if I ever get the Super Cub done. I been following this build for a while, hope things get moving. I do like the steel tube construction in the cockpit area.

RE: 1/3 Scale J3 Cub Build
Ok I am starting my own build page But I will still be watching Don and Tonys builds for ideals and help on my build, If any of you know anyone who wants a short kit for less then $200.00 full of parts give them my Email [email protected]. The build I am doing is for a test fit for a short kit that will be release for sell as soon as I give it the green light.
Thanks Don and Tony and Frank99 for all the good build info on this forum.

I'd love to see what you come up with.
Actually I have already done that and ran it on my cnc mill at my chopper shop. I made it out of aluminum.
I also have already put the whole cub plan into my cad and ran a few kits for some friends of mine. I don't have a lazer cutter, I wish , but I have a cnc router that I cut parts with. Maybe someday I'll have a lazer cutter.
Right now I'm making the metal cage and landing gear for a few friends. Some have been made out of 4130 tubing, maybe a little heavy, and I'm making one out of 6061 tubing...I'll see how that holds up.

RE: 1/3 Scale J3 Cub Build
Soon as I can get it a little further along. The delay with my stuff is that I built 3 other planes for friends for Christmas. I did the GAS UGLY STICK BUILD I'm building another 1/5 scale WACO bi-plane for myself because I sold my last one to a friend that was just begging me for it. I'm working on a 37percent Christian eagle, also a 1/3 scale Pitts S-2a Biplane, a 1/4 scale Sukhoi 26, a P-47, a Bonanza, a 1/3 scale Spacewalker for my son, and a 1/3 scale Extra 300. I kinda bounce around. I also have a cutom home business and a Custom Harley Shop. I'll do my best to show some more pictures , I did do the landing gear trust and part of the cabin trust.
HAPPY NEW YEAR! to all.

RE: 1/3 Scale J3 Cub Build
Hi Guys -
Not to hijack the thread, but seeing that there have been a couple of requests for a look at the various bits of metalwork on the Nelitz Cub, I thought I'd post pix of my landing gear truss - I'll post the rest of the gear and the fuselage truss in the next few days.
Hope this helps answer any of the questions - the drawings, especially of the rear brackets are somewhat misleading, the bends indicated on the plan are not correct, and knowing how much of a detail stickler Bob Nelitz was, I figured that they would have to be fitted as per the full-size. Once I saw a Piper works drawing of how the real ones fit, it was simple to bend them differently and now everything magically lines up!
Cheers, and Happy New Year to all.
Mike

I looked into have a few of them cut to sale but the price was not cheap. I have a guy that cuts the 1/4 scale version but not the 1/3 scale. I have molds to make all the headers, and valve covers for the 1/4 scale but I see you all have some interest in the 1/3 scale version so I'll look into make the 1/3 scale molds. Guys I put hours into drawing the prints floating around the web. Feel free to cut the parts but I just ask that they are not sold to make money. I put the drawings online free for everyone to use.

Thanks for your link Cub Man!
I'm working on a Balsa USA 1/3rd that was given to me partially built. Have been looking all over the web for interior pics. The B USA manual leaves a lot to be desired! Do you do bungee covers in 1/3rd? And are 'real' bungee cords to be had anywhere? Glad I found you! Expect more questions!

Greetings Bill.........nice job on the brackets. I put my plans on a scanner and tried to get close to what I took pics of on a full scale. This proved very difficult. The fronts that I made are close enough.........but if you happen to have the rears scanned , I would really appreciate a copy posted on here or email.......Thanks!..................Mike

Here are some shots of the fuselage truss as promised.
Two of the pix are the jig I used to get it all accurate so that the wing attachment points and the incidence would work - didn't fancy juggling a bunch of tubes in midair.
Cheers, Mike
