Kill Switch???
I'm running an SPE 26 in a Great planes PT 19. Do I need to set up a kill switch? This is my first gaser. I will be using Spektrum 2.4, when and if the weather warms/clears up enough to fly it. I assume I would just assign an aux port on the Rx to one of the aux switches on the DX7 for kill switch activation?
Thanks all, and happy new year!! Edit- just found the manual online and it seems that a kill switch is a good idea. I Assume the kill switch shuts off the EI? therefore the engine shuts down. |

Hey Bill, The gas guys at my club use one that kills the engine by turning off the E.I. via the Tx. I 'm sure it is a rule at our field, that all gassers must have a kill switch. Bob |

Bob Will take a closer look when I get home, might be there already. the weather has been so bad, that I haven't touched the plane since I bought it home. |

RE: Kill Switch???
42% offer a smaller unit and not so complex as the smart-fly / fewer parts.
Good to have on gasser in case the throttle servo faults and goes full. I actually lost a exhaust bolt and the unit came loose which in turn produced a higher idle due to no back pressure. Everytime I set up to land to hot. 3rd time charm cut the ignition on final and brought it home. Don'nt fly without one.... |
RE: Kill Switch???
I've been using RCAT's kill switch for several years.

I´m using a MDL-28 and this was my solution.
Usually all electronics give more problems on the long run so decided to go as the picture. Also I think is the cheap and safe way to go. Cheers, Juan |

RE: Kill Switch???
You can get an opto-kill switch from http://rcxmachines-na.com/id60.html $22.95 shipped a reasonable price. Will kill the engine from any switched channel on your transmitter and can also be set up with the failsafe in your radio system also.

RE: Kill Switch???
I use my throttle cut switch on my TX (RDS8000). Plus I have my ignition on/off switch and the choke. I don't like buying all that extra stuff if I don't have to. Three ways to kill the engine is fine in all the rule books.
