Our favorite electric conversion is Hangar 9's 60 size Miss America P-51. With a Hacker geared C50-10XL and 6s lipos she screams. I need to create a battery hatch to provide better access to the lipo packs. I thought this subject might have broader appeal for relatively incompetent builders like me who need to be led to an appropriate design and execution of these important modifications. I'm scared _ _ _ _less about cutting a big hole in a beautiful fuselage. So please take a minute to send in images and video of your best custom access hatches. Particularly if they're the H9 P-51!

Here's the access hatch for battery charger/voltmeter/switch and air filler on my TF Spitfire in the scale location. The door is hinged using two Dubro pinned hinges with the pins replaced with a single piece of music wire. The door is shut with a friction clasp made from a small bumb of microballons on the bottom frame and a small section of plastic tube glued to the door. The door has a small rare-earth magnet mounted to the inside and I use a metal object, like a wrench or screwdriver, as a latch handle to open the hatch.

I have some pictures of the battery hatch I installed on my Top Flite P-51, I'll upload tonight. I'm at work right now.
