Default Sig Rascal 110 Conversion

Hi Folks,

I have always loved the looks of this airplane and thought it would make a great conversion project so here's my version. I just wanted something to cruise around with, do touch and go's, and just relax and watch it pass overhead on a calm evening. It doesn't "rocket out of a hover" or have "unlimited vertical" but at 120 Watts/pound does nice big loops and has decent vertical for hammerheads, etc.

I know I'm not the first to convert one of these and would enjoy seeing what others have done with their Rascals. Thanks to Chet Tuthill for sending me pictures of his along with some good ideas. I noticed Mike Worthen put a Hacker A60 and ten cells in his so it should be ballistic compared to mine.

I always learn a lot from you guys and enjoy seeing your projects in this forum.

Thanks for letting me share.

Bob

In fact I don`t like to see pictures of Rascals... I just have to have one (or two) myself the more I see it

Have ordered the .40-version some days ago, just to have the perfect plane for calm evenings, will be powered by AXI 2826/12 and 4S LiPo.
But I have the complete setup for the 110 Rascal too... Actro 40-5 on 10S5000 Flightpower. Would be 2200 Watt then. Since the setup just is laying around I am afraid I "suddenly" will order the big Rascal too. The shape of the plane is just too nice to be true. And a friend of mine who have a 110 Rascal have proven that the plane in fact is a good acrobatic plane too.

Hope you get countless hours airborne with your Bob, and happy landings

The 2826/12 should be perfect for the forty size Rascal. There was a forty size conversion in "Fly RC" magazine a couple of issues ago. I think I might need professional help because I saw a deal on a blue 110 the other day and thought "hmm", wouldn't it be nice to have a red and a blue one sitting next to each other at the field. I am sure that I require adult supervision!

Anyone have any thoughts regarding using an AXI 5320/28 on the Rascal 110??
APC 20x8 and 10s
Virtual Test Stand Outputs
Prop RPM: 6368 RPM
Current: 59.0 Amps
Voltage into Motor: 28.9 Volts
Power Input: 1709 Watts
Power Output: 1474 Watts
Efficiency of Motor Only: 86.3%
Current at Max Motor Efficiency: 26.7 Amps
Pitch Speed: 48 mph
Thrust at Pitch Speed: 246 oz
This works out to exactly 100 watts Output per pound

I find myself flying around at half throttle or less most of the time just cruising and doing touch and go's so I think 100 watts/pound would be adequate if that's the kind of flying you like to do.
