I glued the magnets back in on my AXI282010 and it works some. It jitters and then stops at full throttle. There seems to be resistance that was not there before. I am thinking the epoxy I used was put on to thick. Suggestions

Send it to Hobbylobby. They have a replacement plane that is reasonable. Doesnt matter that you worked on it.

I sent in the motor as you suggested. It is less than a year old.

Thanks

i really love this plane and am wondering where this plane hovers at wiht this axi, also how do you think a apongee 3s2p 4100mah lipo would do?

Mike will have to answer you question. Mine M3D crashed after 3 short flights. I didn't have the elevator servo secured good enough to handle my son's aggressiveness. Also I used 10 NIMH Hecells.

Sorry for the late reply:
It will hover just above half throttle. The Apogees will do fine and will give you more headroom to get the amps in the high 20's to low 30's by swinging a larger prop. I would use a Pheonix 35 or Pheonix 45 (www.castlecreations.com) with this application. The 35 is as low as I would go however.

Stephen,
Glad HL got you fixed up.

That was actuially quick reply :) thanks for the info I believe those apongees can handle 44amps constant, anyways I was looking at the esc's yesterday in a Hobby-shops catalogue and the Jeti esc's apealed to me not to sure why but they seemed like good ones but i noticed they had one with BEC and one without (both advanced 40 amp ones) the one wiht could handle up to 12 cells (3 lipo) the one wihtout could handle 16 cells (5cell lipo?) what is BEC i like the one with the 16 cells range as i could use it on another convertion that needs maybe one or 2 more cells.

Yes, the Apogees are 10c cells and can handle way more that you will push through them. Jeti's are very good and I have a Jeti 77 in my 68" Yak. BEC is battery eliminator circuit. It alleviates the need for a seperate RX battery and feeds power to the servos from the main pack. The non BEC (OPTO) is what I mostly use for 10 cells and up on my 40+ size planes. You can utilize either a seperate RX pack or a UBEC (www.koolflightsystems.com). Since the Mini3D uses HS81's, you can get away with using an ESC's BEC on 10 cells. It is sort of border line however and a risk can be run of overloading the BEC (which will cause the controller to stop working momentarily). I prefer to add the UBEC and alleviate that convern.

RE: ExtremeflightRC Mini3D conversion

So you suggest me using the one without BEC, but i would need another rx pack then right?

Mike Parsons 11-29-2004 04:32 PM

RE: ExtremeflightRC Mini3D conversion

I do suggest buying an OPTO version on anything over ~30 amps. However, I would use a UBEC in place of the RX pack. You can just see the UBEC in my first post as it sits just above the RX (white shrink wrap). You can probably get away with using a BEC version, but it is just on the outer limits of the BEC rating. That is another reason why I like Castlecreations Pheonix controllers. You have the option of using the BEC or disabling it by pulling the center (red) pin out of the plug.

ok thanks do you maybe have a picture of how the UBEC fits into everything (the circuit how it's connected) because i saw the little drawing on the site but don;t really understand it

RE: ExtremeflightRC Mini3D conversion

Plug from the UBEC goes into any unused slot on your RX and of course the ESC plug goes into your throttle slot on the RX.

Mike and jp

I am looking at rebuilding the fuse of my M3D and equiping it with a geared speed 550/600. If that will fly my EMagic, it will fly this one even better. I'm very busy at work now, OT everyweek, it my take some time.

Mike

I got my new replacement AXI from HL. They really stand behind their product.
