From: Edgewood , NM,
I have an MDS 2.18 with a 20x6 prop on a rascal 110 . The motor is mounted inverted and my problem is getting a reliable idle . I broke the motor in on 10% nitro . Every time I think I have it adjusted just right for transition, it won't idle. another problem is after it shuts off, re-starting is impossible without removing the glow plug, drying it off, reinserting it, and then it will start by hand the 1st or 2nd try. ANY help with these problems would greatly be appreciated. I won't fly 'til I can figure this out.

It's hard to say without seeing the plane, but it sounds to me like the tank is too high compared to the carb. Nominally, you would like the center of the tank in line with the jet in the carb. If the plane is designed for an upright engine, for example, and you invert the engine, you will end up with the tank high so fuel siphons into the engine at idle or when shut down. This could be why you are getting a wet plug.

I have a 2.18 that's going on a Sig 1/3 scale SpaceWalker, I put a Cline regulator on it yesterday and it runs fine upside down. I'm also going to use a 20x6 but haven't tached it with it yet. I still may change my mind and run it on its side, I just don't like engines upside down. I made a special oak mount for my AHP Mighty Engine stand to run it upside down.

Hi,
My friend has noted that the Hangar 9 4-cycle super plug p/n HAN3011 works better than any other.
I believe that the instructions also recommend it.
It made quite a difference in his 2.18.
Thanks
John
