ROSSI 45 ABC BREAK IN
Hello!
I have a new Rossi 45 ABC with standard muffler. I started with a APC 10x6, Rossi R5 plug and Tornado 5% nitro 16.5% oil blend fuel.
I could note that a few seconds of operation the engine was very hot.
I need to know the proper way to make the break in for this engine.
Norberto

Here are the Rossi instructions for your engine. "Greasy exhaust" is Italian for rich but it doesn't give any indication of how rich they mean by "greasy" other than "exhaust gas should be very evident". Make sure it's rich enough to 4 stroke then lean it out until it's just starting to break into a 2 stroke. Note too that they recommend a fuel with 15% castor although I've always used 20% castor in mine.

Norberto,
You also wrote in the other Rossi thread... See [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=10441476]my reply there[/link].
You wrote that you use the R5 glow-plug... This plug may require that you lean the mixture, further than you need to with the subscribed R4 (R4 Cold from 6 to 10cc).
Too cold a plug may require you to lean the mixture further, to keep the engine running.
This may be too lean for break-in, or may require that you leave the glow-driver connected for the engine to stay running.
For break-in, I would recommend that you stick with the R4.
