Default Evolution Engine question

I was given an Evolution engine and the guy didn't know what size it is. Where the size is usually found on the side of the case and on the head, there is only a small, script letter "a" ... No indication of size anywhere. Also, it has a small flywheel on the drive flange.. Anybody have a clue as to what I have??

Thanks in advance

You have an Evolution Alpha engine that has a listed displacement of .45 ci.

Paul, the way that Evolution marketed their engines was confusing. The .455 does have the 'a' on the cylinder head, but it's not the Alpha. The Alpha is a .40 engine that can be upgraded to the .46. This is a strong engine. They all love 15% and hot plugs like the A3.The flywheel weight will bog down the engine. It's purpose was to improve idling, but this a great idling engine without that weight. I took mine off and threw it away. BTW, you can remove the baffle from the muffler and pick up power. If you have a Tower's Mufflermyou can pick up about 1000 more rpm.

Can I just press the flywheel off or should I order a different drive plate??<br type="_moz"/>

Jim, the flywheel weight should slide odd and weight about 2oz. It is meant to be removable. You should have the aluminum drive washer left on the crankshaft after the weight comes off.
