Default Glow driver

Hi!
One of my glow drives has broken down and I suspect the five leg transitor? to be the culprit.
The only numbers on the front is DII 1501 0923bL

Anyone know what kind of component this is??

I'm guessing it is a voltage regulator (switched, with a fixed or adjustable output) for going from 12V input to 1.3V or higher with an output of max 3A or similar.

If you make a circuit diagram it would be easier to identify a replacement, Elfa.se is a good place to start.

I would suspect it's something like one of these:

http://www.datasheetcatalog.org/data...8/187340_1.pdf

Digikey shows it, but they list the adjustable 5 amp version as not in stock.

Perhaps you can find a similar part somewhere near you..

What brand glow driver is this, and where can I get one?

Hi!
It's an "Easy-Glow" from Prolux.
Uses 3,6-20V in voltage. Perfect if you use a 14,8V LiPo 2200mAh cell like I do for my Sullivan starter.
I just press the buttom on my starter and at the same time light the glow-driver.

Hmm interesting. Looks like it's mostly available in the UK and in Europe. It would be interesting to get one to reverse-engineer, just to see how it works. Not too expensive, 13 British pounds.

It is just a switched voltage regulator (step-down from 5V-40V DC in to 1.5V DC out), nothing fancy.

Curious about the toroid - it's probably just to smooth out the waveform. I've seen them in electronic halogen light "transformers", as well. But I'm thinking of how I can use that chip in a temperature (or resistance) sensing glow driver. It should replace a bunch of components on the old [link=http://geology.um.edu.my/ntaibpublic/Misc/ETI%20glow%20driver/ETI-1516%20Article.pdf]ETI-1516[/link].

The chip is a voltage regulator, it keeps the voltage at a certain value independent on the load.
Here is an adjustable output settup:

Hi!
I just noticed that the glow driver works, but it does not light any of the glow plugs ! Still hot enough when I touch it though but cannot start the engine...

Do you think any of the other components are broken? Or is it the voltage regulator?? I have meassured the voltage out put and it's 1,5V. Still not enough amps to light any of my glow plugs...

The capacitance (or diode) on the output could be broken and take most of the current.
As said ealier, a circuit diagram would help...

Hi!
Change one of the diods and no change! Re soldered the original in and at the same time heated the solder spot on one of the capacitors and the glow driver started to work.
Seems to have been bad soldering joint.
