i dont see them any different than any other motor of same size except price. I only only see people that love OS so much will buy them. With all the other cheap Motors and even good one cheaper than OS i dont see them selling to many.

I will buy a few for a collectors thing.

It's almost like an old relative dying, you know it's going to happen soon, but it still hurts just the same...

O.S. Motors have 3 ball bearings, most other brands only 2. The O.S. prop adapter allows you to use many different propeller brands. I like the new motors.

And the thing I would like to read when I saw this thread was that OS made a new 4 stroke gasoline engine. I think it is a matter of time afterall and soon it will be announced.

MP Jet and MVVS, Czech manufacturers, went to electric motor manufacture a decade ago.

With the rise of quality low cost Chinese electric motors, they are now going back to IC engine production.

OS has missed the boat IMO.

OS may die, but glow engines have much life left. Gas doesn't have the power and electric takes too long between flights.

OS is actually trying to keep glow alive by makeing more and different engines.  Mostly high end low production stuff.  Like the new 91 speed engine.

OS ist part of Futaba Cooperation. The decision to go into electric motors must be part of future RC developments like telemetry.

Where did you get the idea that Futaba owns OS?[X(] OS engines are manufactured by O.S. Engines MFG. Co., LTD. The only thing OS and Futaba have in common is that they both are distributed in North America by Hobbico.

Bruce,

They do own OS. I think they were acquired around 1995, but I could be wrong. You can link directly to Futaba from the OS English site: http://www.os-engines.co.jp/english/index.htm

OS engines became part of the Futaba group of companies in 1993:
