Red face os open rocker

Hi Folk's I recently pulled down a os 60 open rocker which I purchased, to check for rust, there was a little bit in the motor, but when I pulled the back of the engine off, I noticed that there is 3 dot's in the shape of a triangle, I think that they form a upside down triangle, one dot to the bottom. does any one know if this is the correct timing ? any help would be appreciated ! thank you ! Darryl.

Those are not "dots". Those are the ends of the screws that hold the assembly together. There should be a small, punched dot on the cam gear. That dot will be at the bottom when the piston is at top dead center.

thanks for your answer, I placed one , and you are right, they are not dots, they are counter sunk indention's , this is on the back of the motor, that has the gear drive for the pushrod's, to the overhead valves, I checked it with a another motor, and it seem's ok, but we will wait and see when we start it!

I'm pretty sure Bax is about right because I did the same thing as you did and then said oh crap what about the timing, but what ever the setting was, my engine runs strong!

Thanks for all your help ! I asked the airborne engineer, from airborne magazine, Brian winch, Brian gave me the full run down on re-assembly! cheers Gents.
