Default What is the latest and greatest 0.30 cubic inch Saito?

Has the 0.30 cubic inch Saito 4-stroke glow engine undergone new revisions or generational changes? If so, what is the name of the latest and greatest generation of this engine? Thanks!

Well if you are in the USA it is a FA-40a engine now. They bored it out to be a .40 displacement engine. The importer stopped importing the .30's and only sells the .40 now. I think that if you are outside of the USA you can still get the .30 engines though.

The .30 spins a Bolly 10x5.5 @ 10,700+, if I got the correct pictures these are it's numbers. If y0u're curious about the black cylinder, I loaned it to Bill Robison for his Saito Notes, he painted the cylinder black as a little joke, Now that he's gone it's a special engine.
Correction, the prop is a Graupner 10x5.5. Surprisingly, the .30 sounds like a big engine when running.

That's $230 today. I've ordered from these guys before. Cheap shipping and good customer service.

For the pleasure of it, the OS .20 and .25 are also sought after, they run smoother than the .30 one.

One very important ingredient in owning an engine is that if you wanna .30 you wanna .30.

I would have liked to have seen smaller displacement four stroke engines made. Say .10's or .12's or .15's for example. But with electrics taking over it likely won't happen. There is a couple of Japanese fellows who make nice small four stroke engines but they don't make many engines and I don't think they sold any outside of Japan.
But those little OS and HP four stroke engines are pretty neat, sort of like mechanical watches of a sort. Plus they are amazingly quiet up in the air when flying around too.

Yes i agree but he was asking for the latest and greatest of the 30 and to me that is the newer 40. i have a 30 also but like the 40 better. in fact i have 3 of the 40s. i also have a OS 26, OS 30 and OS 30FS car engine. i like the OS 30 because I can run it at 16,000 with no issues at all and sounds awesome while doing it.

I have two of the Saito FA-40b engines in my F82 twin and two of the little OS FS-26 Surpass engines in my Twinstar. They sound good in the air too.
