Default JETT .90L Piston Connection Problem

I have a JETT .90L about 10 years old and the piston connection to the crank has wallered out. {Wallered - To make a hole bigger by reaming it to the extreme.} I have sent emails and phone calls to Dubb Jett to see if I can get a replacement part, however, I have not been able to get in contact with him. Do any of you guys have machine experience or suggestions on how to repair this connection? It's been a great engine, tons of power! I sure wish Jett Engines would respond to my email! I sure would hate to have to send it to the scrap heap!

In the pictures you can see as I move the crank the hole to the piston connection does not stay symmetrical and the crank "sinks" up into the piston connection. You can also see where the piston has scarred the bottom of the crank case.

Looking for solutions.

Thanks,
Jerry

Due to spamming, Dub has had to change his email address a few times. The current one is [email protected]

If that is not the address you were sending emails to, he never got them.

Chances are there may be more needed than just a new conrod. I personally would send the engine to Dub and have him go through it and repair/replace what's necessary than having someone else make parts for his engines. His service is fantastic and he's a friendly guy to deal with.

Yeah it is worn down quite a bit to be able to see it in the picts. If you replace the connecting rod, it is best to replace the bearings while you are at it too. Maybe the cylinder and piston is worn down some as well. I think that Jett has different size pistons thus if the cylinder sleeve is good it may not need anything or a slightly larger piston too.

As mentioned already, Jett changes his email address from time to time due to spamming. You may have a old email address.

At one time Mr. Jett mfd. a high torque, big lumber turning 1.00, to this day I wish I had bought one and had AJC make a head for it. It appears that he doesn't make a 1.00 at all now.

Correction, I found a 1.00, not the high torque version though.

The "L" engines are the torque engines designed for lower rpm than the standard or "LX" engines. His website is very outdated so you'd have to email him for specific models. On the aluminum AAC liners, he will fit a new piston. A worn out brass ABC liner usually needs to be replaced. Aluminum liners don't bellmouth like brass liners do it seems so I'd assume that's why a new piston can be fitted to a used liner. The chrome rarely wears, it's the piston that wears and I'd attribute that to lack of lubrication.

Another thing that's nice and you don't see very often is all of Jett's engines are tapered bore ABC or AAC. Even the 1.20 they used to make came AAC.

This page lists the 1.00L and the 1.20L. https://www.jettengineering.com/engines/bseF100.html

edit: the page you linked to has a different table than the link I posted but it says the 1.20 is no longer being produced. Makes me wonder what they make above a .90 still.

They need to update their site.

Looks like you wore thru the bushing and spit it out, tear it all the way apart inspect all parts and replace as needed or send it back to jett for repair
