Default Can I use an OS 46 muffler on a Supertigre 40 motor?

Hello everyone,

I've been looking around the site to see if this question was already posted, but wasn't able to locate any information, so here goes: I was given a SuperTiger 40 motor without a muffler, and the engine its replacing is a very worn out OS 46fx motor, and I was wondering if I could just use the muffler from the OS motor on the Supertiger motor? They both seem to line up ok, but wanted to ask the more knowledgeable folks out there just to be sure so I don't ruin this motor.

Thank you.

OK first off you are not going to ruin your engine just by using the OS muffler, shoot it probably far better thatn those old heavy water pipes that were standard on so many of the ST engines.

What is most important is the center to center dimension of the bolt holes/threads next you obviously do want the casting to seat all the way around the manifold. The actual inside dimensions of the manifold and the cylinder boss do not have to be an exact match.

Having said that if the bolt holes match go for it.

Well, if thew muffler fits, then by all means you can use it. What JohnBuckner stated is correct. The muffler will not hurt the engine any.

I don't think it will bolt up, I have never found an OS muffler that would. I have however used an Aviastar muffler on my Super Tigre 40.

You can make an adaptor or use a pipe too. Anything is better than the forward protruding stock ST muffler. It always seems to break off the rear lug in a crash.
