Question Saito engine conversion...

I fly Saito's of various sizes. A friend fly's Os's of equal sizes. His planes come down really clean (little residue), while mine are well lub'd with residue. We both use the same fuel, and generally turn the same props. I'm giving thought to feeding the Saito's crank case vent hose into the carb's intake manifold similar to the OS venting arrangement. Any one try this? Anyone have thoughts or suggestions? I don't want to do a mass engine change over to OS, but the residue is reeking havoc on my planes.

Thanks for looking,

Got2retire (which I finally did)

Do you have a velocity stack on your carbs? I added one to my FA-100 and got a dramatic decrease in mess. This captures the slug of fuel mix that comes out of the carb when the intake valve closes. Sort of like a tuned pipe, but on the intake. Fuel consumption is also decreased. On mine, there is very little residue coming out of the vent line.

If you don't like the Saito's, send them to me. I'll give them a good home. I could probably even pay the shipping.

Velocity stacks can help the fuel spray problem.
