I'd throw in my 2 cents - find a NIB Thunder Tiger Pro engine. They're stellar performers and very tolerant of abuse.
..

I thought they quit making those?

I think T.T. have pretty much disappeared . There was talk of a new importer I.I.R.C. but I have read of nothing since , not that that means much !

Thunder Tiger are long out of model engine manufacturing.

Well, if we want to nitpick, sure there are tons of engine manufacturers that do not exist more. Some exist under different ownership. Doesn't mean there aren't new and used examples all over the place. One just needs to look. Hell, OS and Enya are still in business and it's easy to find 30-50 year old engines NIB or in very nice used condition.

Fine for the experienced, but for a newbie being able to buy parts or having a warranty is nice.

^^I agree^^. I have been in the hobby for almost 20 years, I love engines of all kinds, and I have been a fan of the underdogs all my life, but I'm getting older, and lately I haven't wanted to have to mess with engines much, I want things to go smoother in the hobby for me
