I bought this ultimate biplane about 15 years ago. Never flown. I am getting back to the hobby, so figured I better give it a once over. I was told it was a ys110. Well, it is... but is it supercharged? driven off the crankshaft directly? And the big square box on the head.. is that just an air box?
It is a DPM Ultimate 120 size piece.
It should fly it's ass off????
Thanks

It is super charged by a combination of the pumping action in the crankcase and a rotary valve that lets air in but not out. It will make 30 to 35% more power than a non super charged engine of the same displacement. The box is called a plenum. On the smaller YS .53 the fat intake tube serves as part of the plenum. In both engines the rocker box is also part of the plenum system.
