what is the sly remark about K&B? I run several of them with great results and am totally happy with them. Compared with some of the Chinese Junk on the market today, these K&B's are Jewels.

I think he meant that since K&B was sold to RJL/MECOA back about 3 or 4 years ago, they have stopped producing many of the engines, and as many of their other engines, production is very "iffy"... check out their web pages and what is available, many engines are out of stock for years.
For instance, the venerable K&B 61 hasnt been available since they took over. They have introduced the new .18 but many guys would liek to see the older line carry on.
Is that it?
K&B have allways produced a fine product, capable of holding their own with anything else on the market IMO. It was a shame to see the original factory close its doors...

Sorry I'm so long getting back to you.
The "Block" carb wasn't machined with any great consistency, so there's no
set number of turns open for the low speed screw.
But if you look in the intake, with the throttle fully open, the gap between
the idle needle and the end of the spray bar will be close to 1/16" when
it's set right, sometimes a little more, but this should get you running.
Bill.

Hi All,
I have a K&B 20 Sportster and a K&B 65 Sportster new in the box. I have a big lazy bee for the 60, and I am trying to find an airplane for the 20. Does anyone have an airplane suggestion for the 20 Sportster?
Thanks...Brian

But there's no room full of 40 people manning the help line. I doubt that there would be anyone there that could answer your question without just giving you a very general answer?
There's just the owner, Randy Lanseleto, his wife, a retired man that fixes engines sometimes, and another woman or two that answer the phone, fill orders, & do the office work. The other people work in the back on the die casters and nc machines.
Some of the guys here on rcuniverse have more actual field experience with them. As far as setting needle valves go, one can only give you general rules of thumb on how to set the needles because of the veriations in manufacture. The rest is up to you and how the engine sounds and performs.
I have 4 K&B 61's that have been modified by Clarence Lee that are super performers. I also have a RJL K61 that has nothing to do with K&B but is manufactured by MECOA. It runs nice also.
I've bought parts for one of the K&B's a couple different times from MECOA and they give excellent service as far as filling your order goes. The parts have always been of perfect manufacture. No complaints
Enjoy,
Jim

Randy Linsalato is doing his best to keep K&B going. While everyone else is throwing in the towel and giving up, he is trying to make a go of it in the USA. MECOA offers excellent product support and I have never had a problem with them. Even Supertigre gave up and sold to the Chinese. I truly wish that manufacturing was valued in this country of burger flipping idiots.

Randy has stopped making the MECOA engines and sources them from the LEO company in China. All the parts will enterchange between them. This happened about the time he bought K&B. The GMS engines that he sells are also made in China.
The bigger K&B's are made in the USA. I don't know about the .15? He also makes the RJL K61 as well as the HP and HB engines as well as some other antique types.
He's been low on K&B inventory for a while. He just completed a batch of K&B ABC .61 Twist Gold Heads this past spring though.
Enjoy,
Jim
