Engine for a DAZZLER

I fly 3D and I am getting ready to build a DAZZLER...Any suggestions for an engine?
I typically fly GIANT SCALE with gasoline engines, so I am not the most knowledgable about the best engines in a given size for glow fuel.

The Dazzler will fly with most any engine of the 40 variety. However, to give yourself the most long term usefulness and adaptabilty of the engine, you should consider engines in the TT Pro 46, OS 46 FX or 50 SX, Magnum XLS 46 or 52, ASP "S" 46 or 52, Ervine 53, and simular engines.
That's all I could think of at the moment but I'm sure there are others. These are all good engines.

I was thinking the Ervine or a Webra, but like I said I am not very well knowledged with glow engines. I have been doing some reading and those 2 were my first thoughts. I have been getting mixed feelings about the OS 50SX.

You should also give very serious consideration to the MVVS .49. Morris sells them for $140 with the tuned silencer.
It could be obtained elsewhere for less dough...
It has very high power and its new carburettor gives it irreplaceable midrange and response characteristics.

I will agree that the Irvine and MVVS and all that are fine engines, but my feeling is these are all much more power than the Dazzler needs. A 40 size will tear up the sky pretty good on a Dazzler. For someone accustomed to gas powered giant scale, I would think a ball bearing 40 would be all the power you'd want, and too much would be like juggling wildcats. I flew my Dazzler on a TT 36 Pro w/ Ultrathrust muffler and never wished for more power.

The Nelson Ultrathrust costs $60. Like a low range .40. Probably more than your TT .36's original cost.
Just buying a stronger engine is a lot more cost effective.

I agree all of the engines above are great, but Dazzler's tend to be light-so for that reason I'd suggest you not hang a heavy engine on it. A Webra 40 GT should be plenty for it, if you want more power a Webra 50 will work and they're both lighter than almost any 40-50 engine out there--and this will sure help when it's ready to be balanced, especially if you're planning to use it for 3-D stuff :-) Good Luck!

A friend has a kit built dazzler and uses a Saito .56 four stroke. He has plenty of torque for this plane and can hover at about 3/4 throttle, maybe 1/2. I think his weighs about 4.5 lbs.

If its the kit and not the ARF, and you build it lite, a 32 SX will hover it. No it won't rocket out, but it will pull out of a hover. I used Hitec 85mg servo's and small battery pack. Made for a great flying plane that was lots of fun.
