If the bolt is 4mm then the thread is 0.7 mm. They wouldn't use metric fine in aluminium. The metric thread is quite fine.

Metric conversion was foisted upon us by pencil-necked geeks and fastner manufacturers!!! Life was too easy when we had USS and SAE fastners!! Hey and I gotta wonder what is wrong with 10-24, 10-32, 2-56,4-40 is that like way too easy or what!?!? I guess it just didn't cause enough stress around the office!! Thanks Bob
I'm fortunate to have a great nut/bolt shop in town which I haven't been able to stump yet.....many thanks to Valley wide Fastners
