I have had this engine laying around for years.
Which model is it? 61 or 65 maybe?
The needle valve assembly has been moved to the back.
Anyone know anything about how to move it back to the carb?
Trying to get it to fit in a cowl and the rear mounted needle valve/mount back plate needs to be changed.
Any help would be great............. (the last 2 pics will enlarge to full size)
Thanks,
Jeff

DavidM is right, but more specifically it's the "Sportster" 65 engine. And it's a late production example, it either came with the remote needle or someone replaced several parts.
If you have to have a front mounted needle valve, you can replace the mixture disc with the earlier type that accepts a threaded pipe with the needle valve, or just replace the entire carb. See pictures. The parts are available from MECoA, not too expensive. They will help you to pick the right parts if you give them a call.
Bill.

Thanks for the quick answers guys!
I'll either be looking for a new carb for the sportster or a new engine.
I dont think I want to deal with replacing the carb parts.

If you'd like, send me the complete carb and remote needle assembly. I'll change it over for you, your cost will be postage both ways, I'll just trade out the parts with you.
