Default 2C VS. 4C, Fuel consumption

Planning for a 100 mile cross country in a few months, been asking various questions in a few different areas.

I have always thought a .60 2 Stroke was comparable to a .91 4 Stroke. (I fly mostly O.S. if that makes a difference).

Does anyone have any real stats or first hand experience on which motor would take more fuel for the 100 mile journey? I have always thought that a 4 stroke would take less fuel.

Last year, I used a .91 on a Senior, used about 90 OZ. I have never tried the trip on a 2 stroke, fear of leaning out, altho most of the guys do fly 2 stroke. I don't have any stats on them because they usually refill along the way several times.

One year I thought I would try a weedie, .31 took 84 OZ. Not much better.

You will find that a 4C will typically burn less fuel (Cu.In-vs-Cu.in). For any given
rpm...the engine (4C) is firing half as often!

Take your cues from the trans-atlantic flight recently accomplished. An old OS 4C,
propped way down and fed a different fuel made quite a trip...

You're on the right track....

Good Luck.

Did a little research on this. They used an old vintage .61 four stroke converted over to a spark plug, electronics, and Coleman lantern fuel. Didn't mention what prop they used. Said it would run 40 minutes on 1.8 OZ.

The funniest thing just happened, my almost worn out .91 O.S. just called out to me. It said it would wanted to be converted. Does anyone have any links on how to this and what to use?
