Kavan 50

I guess I will bring this up to date. I bought a Kavan 50 and on inspection...it never was run at all. I now because I pulled the pan off and it was pristene inside. I only run it about 2 times a year. Love it. I have a digital sensor and each cyl runs within one degree of the other cylinder. Sounds awsome. I will post a photo of it...I have to take a new photo though....my engine photos are in my old computer. Best Regards Capt,n 7/9/2011

I have the engine on a nice stand and travel to engine shows and sometimes start it up. I may put on a J3 or a Fly Baby someday. It is a engine you just do not want to hurt much. Look up this... Kavan50.com or Google it. Then I think you will see why I want to keep it very nice. Will run it on the first time on spark ignition (was Glow)...very soon. Capt,n

My Feedback: (43)
The one I had ran terrible on gas ignition. It was a bear to start, ran much hotter, and made less power. That said, it ran great on alcohol with spark ignition. Very clean revving, idled great, and made more top end RPM than gas/spark. I never ran it on glow ignition. The owner of MECOA told me that glow was THE way to run these engines.
I never flew mine, it just didn't have the power to weight ratio for anything other than Cubs, Flybabys, Aeroncas, etc. I just can't get into those planes.
It did sound awesome. Imagine a cross between a VW and Continental.
