Back in the day, I used to use carb cleaner. But in California the good stuff that actually worked has been banned and the new stuff is useless.

Anyone know of something commercial that does a good job of dissolving gummed up cases? Also, must not encourage electrolysis as I need to soak a Saito head with the liner in it.

Have you read in here about the crock-pot full of anti-freeze method? Do a search, and you'll find out it works quite well! Just let it soak in hot (not boiling) anti-freeze over night, and presto, "new" engine...A little scrubbing w/ a tooth brush helps too.
