Default Perry Pump Question

Yesterday I installed a new Perry Pump on an engine. While running it on the bench and adjusting the carb, it suddenly went way lean. I shut it down quick and discovered the red tubing that powers the pump had broke off at the nipple on engine. I recut the tubing, reinstalled and before I could restart the engine, the tube split again. I replaced the red stiff tube with fuel tubing and proceeded with the adjustment. The pump works fine but the instructions caution against using soft tubing. I could only find black vacuum tubing locally as a replacement. Will this work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

The softer tube will expand more then the stiff plastic type. I have not had any problems withrunning mine with the RED Prather fuel tubbing. It is a little bit stiffer then the BLUE Aerotrend stuff. I just had to adjust the pump to pump a little more then with teh plastic stuff.

Dru.

Thanks for the tip. I finally found the email address of Perry Pumps. In a quick reply, Gary instructed me to run the stiff red tubing inside of medium silicone and use only the silicone on the fittings. The new pumps are shipped with this setup. Tim
