just a couple of quick questions. Well I think i finally got my engine tuned right and i was wondering how long should a glow plug last. I got about 8 tanks of gas out of the last before it finally gave out on me. Is that about right? And then when it starts to warm up here will i have to re-tune the car???
Just wondering and thanks for the help guys

Tough to say, because the harder you run your car the shorter your glow plug life will be. And R/C cars are generally run harder than airplanes. And, yes, when the temperature and humidity change you will have to tweek your needle valve some more. Safest thing to do (especially if you don't have a temp gun) is before you first start your car up for the day open the needle valve a 1/4 turn from where you last set it. After you get it running carefully turn it in a click or two at a time and do an acceleration check. When your car accelerates cleanly without bogging from a standing start you've got it right where you want it. Clean but not too lean.

cool, either way i'm happy with it now cause i was going through glow plugs about every two tanks so it was getting kind of expensive. I am still trying to learn as much about it as i can so i'm sure you will see me here a lot until i get comfortable with it, and any car guys out there with a opinion let me know and thanks again

My Feedback: (182)
If you are going through glowplugs as fast as you say you are there are two reasons...1) Running too lean, 2) Using too hot of a glowplug for the percentage of nitro you are using...try a cooler glowplug (like going from an OS A3 to an OS 8 or Enya 3 to an Enya 4...and so on) ...or possibly both reasons at once...too lean AND too hot of a glowplug.
A glowplug should last through a minimum of 1 gallon of fuel...usually MUCH more than that though.

wow okay, i didn't know that they are suppose to last that long, i don't think i am running it to lean. I have a steady trail of smoke coming out of the pipe but nothing like when i was breaking it in. no sputtering or anything like that so i think i got it tuned right.. but i will try a different plug. I am running 20% nitro with 14% oil. any recommendations for a plug to go along with the fuel or just in general a colder plug. Thanks a lot
