Where should the engine cutoff?

I got my LT-40 kit all done, now Im doing some engine adjustments on my os la 46 and Im trying to find out how far down on throttle stick should the engine stop. It shuts off a lttle less than half way down from the bottom now. Where should it be about?

chris, the throttle stick should NOT shut down the engine...if it does I hope you have better stick control than I do
with the the throttle stick all the way back the trim slider should be set so the engine idles nicely, the trim lever should shut off the engine when it's moved all the way back ..unless you have a throttle cut switch. adjust the throttle linkage/throttle servo arm so you see no opening at the carb barrel as your looking down the carb mouth with the transmitter throttle stick all the way back and the trim all the way back, now move the trim all the way up and see how much opening you have on the carb barrel, should be about 1/8 inch or so. now check that you have full throttle by moving the throttle stick all the way up, also make sure your servo is not stalled/buzzing when your at full throttle, if you have end point adjustments it easy to adjust..if not play with the linkage/servo arm placement until it's no longer stalling at full throttle. now with the trim slider up and throttle stick back, start the engine and adjust the trim until you get the slowest STABLE idle possible, you should now be able to pull the trim back and shut down the engine.

I guess Ive got alot of adjusting to do. Ill spend today trying to get it right.
It'll be tuff because Im not yet completley familiar with the noise at which rpm the engine produces.

Chris, TAKE YOUR TIME, control surface set up is too important to just get "close enough"and try to fly. If you have anyone around with any R/C experience it would help, if no one is avaiable just ask lot's of question's here on RCU. with your idle you want it slow enough that the plane will not roll when released, and fast enough that it won't die, just take your time you'll get it.

JSN mentioned something, the throttle kill switch. I recently saw a new simple radio -- I cannot remember the brand -- that has the switch. I do not know the activation whatever, whether anytime or when throttle is back or whatever, but depending on what radio you have, check for that.
Gas burners do sometimes set a separate switch and servo as an additional "Kill Switch" for ignition. That is not my point-of-confusion here.

Other than that, jsn gave you the right info. You will find that in 30 minutes you will have it all done. Just remember that when changing the linkage, the length of the arm can be changed simply by changing from hole to hole. Arc reduces as you go near the center, thus reducing the linear movement of the pushrod. Sometimes shorter is better.
