Default starting problems

Hey guys. I've got my carb loosened up now. Thanks for all your help. The little old engine is lubed up, and ready to start. I went to the hobby shop and got a gallon of 10% fuel and a new glow plug. When I put the plug warmer on it, I can feel the head get warm. I flip the prop over with the chicken stick, and it'll hit and run for about a second, then shut off. It's got 3 adjustments on the carb. All are set to what it was on the last time the plane was in the air. What are these for, and should they be changed? Am I doing something wrong to cause it not to start? How much should the barrell be open on start up? I know this is a lot to ask, but any input you guys have would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Default RE: starting problems

Generally, when you run for a second then stop, it means that what little fuel there was in the engine is burning up and not being replaced. This means lean. You might try moving your idle adjustment to a richer setting. You can also try a drop or two of fuel into the intake to see if this extends your short run. If it does, the try the richer idle setting.

Also, when you start the engine, be sure that your fuel line from the tank to the engine is full of fuel.
