Do you need the choke flap on the carb of the 91 4 stroke?

None of my other 4 strokes have a choke, this looks like it doesn't do a whole lot apart from allowing you to close the carb for priming...

As the engine is going into a Tiger 60 I'll have pretty good access to it anyway. I have to cut the side cheek for the needle valve, if I leave the choke lever on I'll need to cut a deeper slot.

Any thoughts?

I pulled mine off and it didn't seem to make any difference. I choke by holding a finger over the exhaust and turning the prop over a few times. Starts right up.

I do the same as Ed does. Never had any problem. This is on both the Magnum and OS 91's.

[sm=thumbup.gif]....same here....in fact I remove the choke assy's. One less
thing to cause problems, or fall off.
